Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, People's Artist Trung Duc said that in August 2022, he knew there were many mixed opinions surrounding his statement "many girls want to ask me for a child" but he did not pay attention.
"To put it in context, at that time, I was a battlefield driver, so I encountered many situations like that. Not only did I have to "ask for a child", but many people did too.
And in that situation, I flatly refused. What I shared could be misunderstood or intentionally misunderstood by others. But I just had to be honest and straightforward," he confided.
People's Artist Trung Duc once "caused a storm" with his statement "many girls want to ask me for a child" but he said he doesn't care about the noise on social networks (Photo: Organizing Committee).
He said his wife is the younger sister of a friend, living on Ma May Street ( Hanoi ). The two met, initially as friends, then liked and fell in love. His wife is a very capable person, taking care of her husband and children little by little, so he feels very secure singing in a far away province.
"My wife is very beautiful and cooks well. Even though her husband is an artist and travels far away for work all the time, she is not jealous. We understood each other since we were young, so we can live together peacefully in old age," he said.
People's Artist Trung Duc has 4 children: 3 boys, 1 girl. Currently, he and his wife live with their daughter and grandchildren on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street (Hanoi). If he is not performing in the provinces, he stays at home to play with his grandchildren, chat with his wife and read books.
The 71-year-old artist said that every day, he still wakes up at 4am and goes to have breakfast and coffee with friends at 6am.
"I still exercise every day. Each session lasts more than an hour, it can be gymnastics or martial arts. I still practice my voice regularly for more than 30 minutes every day without getting tired.
My voice is still good now, I can still hit high notes well and my friends are surprised when they hear me sing. I think I sing better than when I was young...", People's Artist Trung Duc said.
Currently, in addition to his time on tour, he still accepts students to come to his home to teach singing. Most of them are young people, who want People's Artist Trung Duc to "hold their hands and show them how" to sing.
For many years, the voices of People's Artist Trung Duc and People's Artist Thu Hien have left a strong impression on audiences. They have become the golden symbols of duets singing red music. Their voices blend together, lift each other up, and are filled with emotion, making generations of Vietnamese people love them.
A reporter asked People's Artist Trung Duc: "Is it true that people say that you and People's Artist Thu Hien used to have feelings for each other?". He frankly said: "Thu Hien and I have a lasting, pure friendship. People's Artist Thu Hien is a wonderful colleague.
I learned a lot from Thu Hien. In the past, I sang classical music and it was Thu Hien who taught me to sing folk songs. I also memorized quickly and was sensitive, so I absorbed what Thu Hien taught me quite quickly, without having to teach her over and over again.
Thu Hien and I used to meet each other often. However, she now lives in Ho Chi Minh City. Every time she comes here, she doesn't have much time, so we meet less often."
