Meritorious Artist Nhu Huynh brings reformed opera 'on air' on Youtube, preserving traditional art

With more than two decades of dedication to traditional theater, Meritorious Artist Nhu Huynh has strived to keep the fire burning by bringing reformed opera to digital platforms, preserving and promoting this traditional art form.

She received the YouTube silver button when she had more than 100,000 subscribers. Not only is this a personal achievement, it also shows that cải lương still has a young audience and is supported on digital platforms.

Meritorious Artist Nhu Huynh received the silver button after a period of effort to bring reformed opera to digital platforms.

The female artist received a notification from YouTube while editing the cai luong script. "I thought I was seeing things when I read the notification. Thank you to my colleagues who helped me film and edit the film, bring cai luong to the digital platform and help me achieve the success I have today," Nhu Huynh confided.

Nhu Huynh said she is grateful and moved because Cai Luong has gone through many ups and downs. This is a good sign for this traditional art form that is showing signs of fading away.

From an artist who focuses on and is attached to the stage, the decision to switch to producing content on a digital platform was not an easy one for Nhu Huynh. She said the hardest thing was not getting used to the camera, lights or sound, but maintaining the "soul" of Cai Luong in a fast, diverse and volatile content world like YouTube. How to make each video have depth, keeping the love and essence of the stage, that is the challenge for the female artist.

"The motivation for me to step out of the comfort zone of traditional theater is that if artists do not change, Cai Luong will fade away in the minds of young people. I want YouTube to be a bridge connecting the young generation with traditional values. I want Cai Luong to continue to live strongly," the female artist said.

Nhu Huynh believes that the young generation still loves reformed opera if artists think about the sustainability of the art industry by doing their jobs with all their heart.

"Art is not a temporary glory, but a journey of hardship and challenges. I hope young people love their profession, and do not forget their roots, where art nurtures human values. Even though the stage is sometimes unstable and sparse, artists must keep the faith to find a new path," she shared.

Nhu Huynh is a familiar face to audiences who love reformed opera music. Possessing a beautiful appearance and a sweet voice, Nhu Huynh is affectionately called "the reformed opera beauty queen" by many audiences. She is currently an actress at the Cao Van Lau Theater in Bac Lieu province.

Nhu Huynh is highly appreciated on the cai luong stage and has received many major awards. She won a gold medal at the Capital Theater Festival , a gold medal at the National Drama Festival... In 2022, she was honored as a Typical Artist in the Arts Industry and received a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.

Recently, Nhu Huynh has regularly performed at cultural and tourism events to serve audiences who love reformed opera such as the first Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, the second Ninh Binh - Trang An Festival...

In March 2024, Nhu Huynh was honored to be awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. After 3 months of receiving the title of Meritorious Artist, Nhu Huynh continued to break through and won the gold medal at the 2024 National Drama Festival. In addition, the 8X singer was also honored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a Typical Cai Luong Artist in 2024.

Since the beginning of this year, Meritorious Artist Nhu Huynh has continued to receive many awards related to the art of reformed opera.
