On July 25, the Norwegian Royal Family released a series of photos of Princess Ingrid Alexandra as she officially began her three-year study journey in the land of kangaroos. In the photos, the future queen of Norway appears radiant and very simple in jeans, sneakers and a blue sweater. Ingrid Alexandra is following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father, who also studied abroad when they were young.
From the crown to the lecture hall
Born in 2004, Ingrid Alexandra is the granddaughter of King Harald V and the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Haakon. She will be the first future queen in Norway's modern history, following changes to the succession law (in 1990) that allowed the eldest child, regardless of gender, to inherit the throne. Princess Ingrid Alexandra is currently second in line to the throne (after her father).

However, she is temporarily putting aside the royal halo to start a new journey: a journey of knowledge. The 21-year-old princess has chosen the University of Sydney (Australia) to start her academic journey. In early May, the Norwegian Royal Family announced that Princess Ingrid will study a 3-year bachelor's degree, majoring in international relations and political economy at the University of Sydney. The Royal Family also said that she will live in the student dormitory right on the school.
“I am very much looking forward to starting my studies at the University of Sydney,” the princess said in an accompanying statement. “Being a student is incredibly exciting, and I hope to gain new perspectives on European and international politics. I am confident that I will learn a lot.”

Family support
Asked about his granddaughter's decision to study abroad, Norway's King Harald V, 87, said, "It will be very beneficial, especially when she returns. Ingrid needs to be allowed to study and gain knowledge before starting her representative role."
Both King Harald V and his son, Crown Prince Haakon, had overseas study experiences in their youth. King Harald V studied history, economics and politics at Balliol College, a member college of the University of Oxford (UK), while Crown Prince Haakon studied at the University of California, Berkeley (USA) and the London School of Economics .
Studying at the University of Sydney marks a new chapter for Princess Ingrid Alexandra, after she completed 15 months of military service with the Engineer Battalion, Northern Brigade of the Norwegian Army this spring.

According to People , just last month, Princess Ingrid Alexandra appeared with a completely different appearance compared to recent everyday photos. At that time, the princess attended a state banquet with her parents, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and her grandparents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Norway. At the event held at the Oslo Royal Palace, Princess Ingrid Alexandra wore a gorgeous crown, a red dress by designer Vivienne Westwood, and long white gloves in a royal style.
