Determined to set foot in the land of the stars and stripes to pursue knowledge, Nguyen Tue Nhi (born in 2007) excellently won a scholarship worth 6 billion from a prestigious liberal arts university in the US.

Multi-talented female student and memorable milestones

Nguyen Tue Nhi, a 12H student at TH School, is known to her friends and teachers as an active, individualistic and multi-talented female student. During the recent university application, Tue Nhi surprised everyone when she was accepted to Mount Holyoke College with a scholarship of 60,000 USD per year (about 1.6 billion VND) to study for a Bachelor of Business Administration in Massachusetts, USA. According to US News & World Report, Mount Holyoke College is ranked 34th in the list of the best liberal arts colleges in the US and is also the place where many famous female entrepreneurs, politicians and writers study.

The journey to pursue her dream of studying abroad began in 6th grade when Nhi became a student at TH School with a prestigious 70% scholarship. Being exposed to classmates from many countries and listening to the interesting experiences of native teachers urged the 10X female student to find opportunities to step out into the world . With the support of teachers and parents, Nhi early on built a strategy to develop her own strengths as well as build an admirable portfolio.

By studying the Cambridge International High School program, Tue Nhi easily achieved a 7.5 IELTS certificate. In addition, the female student can also use French and Japanese fluently and is studying Korean. Nhi has a sharp mind with knowledge about startups, finance, and economics , so in the AS Level exam, Nhi conquered an A in Business without much difficulty.

In addition to her academic achievements, Tue Nhi also possesses the ability to paint, music, and sports and has been given the opportunity by her teachers to develop her strengths. Nhi can play many musical instruments such as the piano (12 years of practice), the T'rung, drums and is a member of the school's rock band. The 10X female student is also a member of the TH School girls' basketball team, "fighting" in many basketball tournaments for high school students in Hanoi.

Tue Nhi has a strong passion for fine arts, especially fashion design. Nhi won second prize in a competition at the Marangoni Fashion Academy (Italy), and also runs a business selling recycled handbags. The bags are made from old jeans and are extremely unique, contributing to spreading the spirit of Green living and unlimited creativity.

Passionate about fashion and art, Tue Nhi finds joy in art classes, where she can unleash her creativity with her skillful hands.

With an impressive track record accumulated over many years, and the support of an academic advisor throughout the university application process, Nhi has won over the demanding examiners on the other side of the world and won a valuable scholarship package. Previously, Nhi was also admitted and awarded a scholarship by Emlyon Business School (France).

Success comes from 'fit'

Sharing about her student's achievements, Ms. Ruby Huyen Dang, Academic Advisor of TH School, who accompanied Tue Nhi throughout the university application journey, said: " The decision to choose the school came entirely from Tue Nhi's serious research. The closer to the final stage of the application, the more proactive Nhi was in meeting her to discuss more. The university application journey is also a way to mature and practice the necessary qualities for the upcoming journey: diligence, carefulness, determination."

According to Ms. Huyen, the key to opening the door to university lies in the compatibility between the student and the core values of the school they will attend.

As a prestigious girls’ college, Mount Holyoke College values independence, leadership, and openness alongside traditional values and empathy for global issues. Although Nhi’s decision to apply was close to the application deadline, the school fully supported Nhi’s attempt because teachers assessed Nhi’s personality and learning style as suitable for a liberal arts environment. In addition, Nhi has a competitive advantage having completed the globally recognized Cambridge AS and A level curriculum, which is highly regarded by Ivy League schools in the US.

" TH School focuses on university selection skills in career guidance classes. When applying, Nhi had not taken the SAT (an aptitude test for university admission in the US), so the results of the International Baccalaureate A level program and the recommendation letter from the academic advisor play an important role in increasing the chances of admission. The recommendation letter not only emphasizes the ability to absorb knowledge but also must demonstrate the compatibility between the student's qualities and the school's expectations. Nhi is a student with personality, determination, dares to think, dares to experience and has many big ambitions. She can absolutely become a female leader in the future." Ms. Huyen shared.
