In the first half of this year, despite facing many difficulties, Binh Thuan 's industrial production index (IIP) still showed an increase of about 4.6% over the same period, with the processing and manufacturing industry alone increasing by 14% (while the same period last year only increased by 1.78%). At the same time, 12/16 major industrial products increased over the same period, notably footwear products of all kinds estimated to increase by nearly 105%.

At the same time, production and business activities of enterprises in industrial parks (IPs) in the province continued to be stable and attracted 800 more workers, bringing the total number of employees working here to about 11,500 people. According to the Binh Thuan Industrial Park Management Board, the revenue of enterprises in the first half of this year is estimated at VND5,500 billion (up 5.7% over the same period), contributing about 140 million USD in export turnover to the locality (up 7.6%), and contributing an estimated VND143 billion to the budget (up 10%).

In general, stable production and business have also contributed to Binh Thuan's export turnover in the first 6 months of this year reaching an estimated 581.5 million USD, an increase of 27.16% over the same period last year. Currently, local goods are mainly exported to the following markets: Japan (seafood, textiles, paper products), Taiwan (clothes, fresh squid), South Korea (dried squid, fresh squid, fresh fish). In addition, there are also markets in the United States (seafood, footwear, paper products), Colombia (footwear, fresh squid), China (seafood, ore and minerals), Canada (footwear, paper products) ...

However, in recent months, in the industrial parks in the province, there are still businesses facing difficulties, operating at a low level and temporarily suspending operations, especially in the fields of dragon fruit export, cardboard paper production, and artificial quartz stone. The main reason is that the consumption market for these products is not favorable, on the other hand, there are also cases of difficulties in capital sources for reinvestment and market expansion... Recently, the US tariff policy applied to all imported goods from Vietnam (announced to apply a 46% reciprocal tax rate in early April 2025, but postponed for 90 days) is also a big challenge for some local businesses. Because through review and statistics, Binh Thuan's goods exported to the US market currently account for about 15% of the total export value of goods of the province, focusing on seafood, footwear, cashew nuts and wood products.

Regarding this issue, local enterprises participating in exporting goods to the US market said that in the short term, they may not be affected much by the imposition of taxes. However, in the future (after the end of the suspension period), if the US still imposes reciprocal taxes on Vietnamese export goods as announced, it will directly or indirectly affect enterprises in Binh Thuan. In particular, enterprises operating in the fields of seafood processing, textiles, footwear, furniture manufacturing and wood products that employ a lot of labor are predicted to face many challenges due to increased costs, leading to the possibility of reducing orders from the US market...

In the context of unpredictable fluctuations in the world economy , in the coming time, the locality will continue to implement trade promotion measures, expand and diversify domestic and foreign consumption markets. Along with that, promptly remove difficulties, support businesses to continue to maintain stable production - business, invest in developing the agricultural - forestry - fishery processing industry and Binh Thuan's advantageous products. At the same time, it is expected that the Vietnam - US reciprocal trade negotiations will soon bring positive results, harmonize and balance the interests of both sides as well as create conditions for businesses to boost the export of goods to the country with the largest economy in the world. Thereby, creating momentum for the locality to aim to exceed the export turnover target for the whole year of 2025, reaching 1,120.4 million USD (export of goods alone is 870.4 million USD).
