Known as the "roof of the Western region," Mount Cam, located in Nui Cam commune, boasts picturesque scenery, a distinctive climate, and many sacred legends. It has become an attractive destination, drawing numerous tourists year-round for sightseeing, experiences, and worship.

Abundant potential

With an altitude of over 700m above sea level, Mount Cam boasts a cool climate year-round. Because of this unique characteristic, Mount Cam stands out completely from the rest of the Mekong Delta. Due to its characteristic coolness, especially in the last months of the year, Mount Cam evokes a sense of the dreamy atmosphere of Da Lat. For tourists, visiting Mount Cam at the end of the year is ideal. At that time, you can immerse yourself in a poetic landscape with clouds covering the entire area.

Ms. Duong Thi Thu Thuy, a tourist from Can Tho City, shared: “I had the opportunity to visit Cam Mountain to enjoy its unique climate. Compared to Da Lat, Cam Mountain doesn't have the rolling pine hills, but the cold air is quite similar. Moreover, this place still retains its pristine beauty, suitable for those who want to find a sense of being one with nature. The peace at Cam Mountain helps me find balance after the pressures of busy life.”

According to Ms. Thu Thuy, this is her second time visiting the "roof of the Mekong Delta." Her first visit was for a pilgrimage with her family to worship the supernatural beings. This time, she stayed overnight on the mountain to enjoy the fresh air and admire the clouds drifting over the distant forests at dawn. Accommodation services on Mount Cam attract tourists, especially those seeking peace and tranquility.

Visiting Mount Cam, tourists can also enjoy the picturesque scenery, with the Thuy Liem Lake Pilgrimage Center being a highlight that captivates the heart. Here, you can pay homage to supernatural beings at famous temples such as the Big Buddha and Van Linh.

Notably, Mount Cam also features a statue of Maitreya Buddha, recognized by the Asian Record Organization as the largest Maitreya Buddha statue on a mountaintop in Asia in 2013. With a height of 33.6 meters and a total weight of 1,700 tons (including the base and shell), this is a famous Buddhist landmark in An Giang, contributing to the effective exploitation of Mount Cam's spiritual tourism potential for over 20 years.

Product diversification

Recognizing the rich potential of Mount Cam, the management unit and local authorities are striving to diversify tourism products on the "roof of the Western region." The Mount Cam Tourist Area Management Board, in coordination with relevant units and specialized sectors, has launched many new tourism products to serve visitors. According to Mr. Dinh Van Chac, Director of the Mount Cam Tourist Area Management Board: “We are actively developing tourism products at Mount Cam such as trekking, experiential activities, and seasonal ecotourism… and have achieved positive results. In addition, we also have activities to serve tourists staying overnight on Mount Cam, such as the acoustic music night "Love Songs of Thien Cam Son," and economic activities of the local people… Especially, the first Thien Cam Son Lantern Festival - Spring 2025 attracted tens of thousands of visitors.”

In addition, the Management Board of Nui Cam Tourist Area has invested in infrastructure, created more check-in points for tourists, cleaned up the environment, planted various flowers, etc., helping to make the tourist area's landscape increasingly beautiful; coordinating with the People's Committee of Nui Cam commune and the police force to ensure good security, order, and traffic safety to create peace of mind for tourists.

“Currently, we are coordinating with Sao Mai Group to operate an electric shuttle service for tourists at the Thuy Liem Lake Pilgrimage Center, making it more convenient for visitors and creating a more professional operation of the tourist area. In the future, the Management Board of Cam Mountain Tourist Area will continue to coordinate with Sao Mai Group and the People's Committee of Cam Mountain Commune to invest in tourism infrastructure, creating momentum for the tourist area so that visitors will be more satisfied when coming to the majestic Thien Cam Son mountain,” Mr. Dinh Van Chac emphasized.

Thanks to the efforts of the management unit, the attention of the local authorities, and the expertise of relevant sectors, Mount Cam is increasingly attracting a large number of tourists. In 2025, the Mount Cam Tourist Area will be re-recognized by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association as a typical tourist destination of the region. This is a positive result, affirming a new stage of development in the effort to exploit potential and improve the quality of tourism services on the "roof of the Western region". As of July 11th, the Mount Cam Tourist Area welcomed more than 434,000 visitors who ascended the mountain by road to visit, worship, and experience the area.
