In the early morning of July 24, the Lam and Con rivers suddenly rose, causing deep flooding in many areas in Do Luong commune (former Do Luong district) and Tan An commune (former Tan Ky district). Faced with the complicated situation, the authorities urgently used boats to approach the flooded areas, helping people move their property and belongings to safety.

Mr. Tran Van Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of Do Luong commune, said that before the water level started to rise from 9:00 p.m. on July 23, the commune mobilized forces including police, military and village chiefs to directly go to households in block 1 and block 6, the area along the Lam river, to evacuate the elderly, children and transport belongings to a safe place. Because the floodwaters rose too quickly, the authorities used motorboats and boats all night to approach isolated households, take people out of deeply flooded houses, and transport property to a safe place. Up to now, the locality has successfully evacuated 43 households and their property. Currently, the commune continues to arrange forces on duty 24/24 to monitor the water level of the Lam river and promptly support people in flooded areas to ensure the safety of life and property.
