On January 2, Ben Luc District Police decided to detain Le Van Son (41 years old), Le Minh Hieu (23 years old, all living in Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Thanh Thuy (46 years old, from Binh Phuoc ) and Trinh Minh Quang (28 years old, from Thanh Hoa) to investigate the act of buying and selling prohibited goods.

At 3:00 p.m. on December 30, 2024, Ben Luc District Police coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to patrol the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway. The police discovered a car with license plate 50G-018.76 parked near the expressway toll station in An Thanh Commune (Ben Luc District), and immediately inspected it.
Mr. NDT (66 years old, delivery driver) said that a stranger ordered him to transport 14 cartons to a person driving a car with license plate 61K-107.58, parked 500m away. The police checked and discovered that the goods contained 250 boxes of fireworks weighing 500kg.
Checking the car, the police discovered Son, Hieu, Thuy and Quang sitting inside, using a laptop to sell fireworks to customers.
The police arrested the group and took them to the headquarters. These people said they did not directly transport the fireworks but hired a delivery service. While waiting for customers to pick up the goods, they were caught red-handed.
