Mr. Duong Cong Minh: "I have nothing to do with the case of Van Thinh Phat and Ms. Truong My Lan!"

(NDLO) – Mr. Duong Cong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sacombank, affirmed that he had nothing to do with the case of Van Thinh Phat and Ms. Truong My Lan.

On April 26, the annual general meeting of shareholders for the fiscal year 2023 of Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Sacombank ) heated up when Mr. Duong Cong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of this bank, officially spoke up about the negative rumors related to him recently.

The information was given by Mr. Duong Cong Minh at the Sacombank shareholders' meeting on the morning of April 26.

Regarding the rumor that he was banned from leaving the country due to his involvement in the Van Thinh Phat and Ms. Truong My Lan case, Mr. Duong Cong Minh affirmed: "I have not a single dot or comma related to Ms. Truong My Lan or Van Thinh Phat."

According to Mr. Minh, this is a rumor written by the nickname Thang Dang on his personal Facebook. The reason may be that when Sacombank lent money to Bamboo Airways and he acted as a consultant for this loan to ensure the capital recovery. At that time, Mr. Thang asked for 200 billion VND for himself, but the family of Mr. Trinh Van Quyet (former chairman of FLC Group, who was prosecuted and temporarily detained at that time) let Mr. Thang quit his job before the new investor joined the operation of Bamboo Airways.

"I asked Mr. Thang to work with a new partner. What Mr. Thang wrote on Facebook is not true. If Ms. Truong My Lan was involved, I would never sit here to run the shareholders' meeting. I assure the shareholders that in all cases, I will always focus on the development of Sacombank," said Mr. Minh.

The Chairman of Sacombank's Board of Directors also said that he is the largest domestic shareholder of the bank. Therefore, rumors about him will have a certain impact on the bank and thereby affect the shareholders.

Regarding dividend distribution, Mr. Minh said that Sacombank is waiting for the State Bank to allow the auction of 32% of Mr. Tram Be's shares at Sacombank and strive to complete the bank restructuring project in 2024, reducing the bad debt ratio to 3%... At that time, Sacombank will ask the State Bank for permission to use 18,000 billion VND of undistributed profits to pay dividends in shares, in order to increase charter capital.
