Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was elected Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council.
On the afternoon of February 20th, at the 21st session (special session) of the 10th term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, with a majority of votes in favor, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council elected Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - to the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Thus, just one day after receiving the Politburo 's decision to appoint him as Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's decision to appoint him to the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2020-2025 term, Mr. Duoc was elected Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Mr. Được was elected Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, replacing Mr. Mãi, who was relieved of his duties by the City People's Council because he had just been elected Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee.
With the election of Mr. Được, the 2021-2026 term now has three people holding the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City: Mr. Nguyễn Thành Phong, Mr. Phan Văn Mãi, and Mr. Nguyễn Văn Được.
