Mr. Xi Jinping: The origin and strength of Vietnam-China relations lie in the people

On the morning of April 15, General Secretary To Lam andPresident Luong Cuong, along with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, had a meeting on friendship between the Vietnamese and Chinese people, attended the launch of the “Red Journey: Research and study of youth”, and launched the Vietnam-China railway cooperation mechanism.

General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the significance of the Vietnam-China People's Friendship Meeting, held during the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The General Secretary emphasized that the historical reality of the past 75 years shows that friendship and cooperation have always been the main stream of Vietnam-China relations.

Vietnam attaches importance to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has a solid strategic significance in entering a new era of development, for the happiness of the people of the two countries, for the cause of peace and progress of mankind.

General Secretary To Lam said that one of the most important and fundamental directions of cooperation in Vietnam-China relations is to “consolidate a more solid social foundation”. The young generation of the two countries is the core force.

The General Secretary suggested that the people and young generations of the two countries need to shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and constantly developing the "close Vietnam-China relationship, both comrades and brothers" - a precious common asset of the two Parties, two countries and two peoples personally built by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong and previous leaders of the two countries.

Agencies and organizations of the two countries need to coordinate to effectively implement the project “Red Journey of Youth Research and Study”; the young generation of the two countries, more than ever, needs to constantly strive to practice, improve their creativity, and master new technologies. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen solidarity, cooperation, and help each other develop together, to truly promote the core role in the industrialization and modernization of each country, becoming a pioneering force to bring Vietnam - China relations to develop steadily in the new era.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping expressed his pleasure at meeting comrades, friendly personalities and representatives of the young generation and youth of the two countries.

He was moved to recall the revolutionary predecessors who made important contributions to the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries. Mr. Xi Jinping emphasized that the China-Vietnam relationship is "like a tree with roots, like a stream with a source", in which all the roots, bloodlines and strength of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries lie in the people, in the friendship of the people.

The Chinese leader affirmed that the building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future has strategic significance, in line with the common interests of the two countries, and is beneficial to peace, stability and prosperous development of the region and the world.

China is willing to maintain high-level strategic exchanges with Vietnam and consolidate a solid social foundation; propose that both sides take the “2025 China-Vietnam People’s Cultural Exchange Year” as an opportunity to carry out humanistic exchanges through rich and diverse activities; jointly organize warm and friendly exchanges with the people, effectively exploit the “red legacies” of the two countries’ revolutions, better tell the story of friendship between the two peoples, so that the China-Vietnam friendship can be inherited from generation to generation.
