These classrooms are built to organize innovative STEM educational activities, scientific and technological research; build a STEM ecosystem to promote career guidance, start-ups, and career experiences in the direction of 4.0 technology.
Accordingly, in each province/city, Petrovietnam deploys 3 STEM rooms with 2 rooms for high schools, 1 room for middle schools; in each old administrative area of the province/city, 1 room is arranged, with priority given to difficult/border areas. The STEM rooms are fully equipped with 6 functional blocks including facilities, specialized processing machines and equipment, tools and learning equipment by topic, smart connected learning materials, hard copy and soft copy learning materials system and bookkeeping system.
The list of equipment in the STEM room is standardized according to the 2018 General Education Program and international standards such as NGSS, ISTE, CSTA and CCSS Math. Equipment includes 86-inch interactive screens, OPS computers, online conference systems, sound systems, STEM classroom management software; laptops for AI-IoT programming, robots, 3D printing, CNC cutting; STEM Science , IoT, AI, data sensors; STEM energy, environment, meteorology sets; VEX robot systems and competition tables; 3D printers, CNC machines, protective gear and safety equipment.

The program also includes teacher training and coaching content in 4 modules. Teachers are guided to master modern teaching equipment and technology, IoT connection, AI, Robotics, digital transformation, smart classrooms; know how to build STEM lessons/topics in the direction of interdisciplinary, single-subject, research, STEM projects; organize STEM educational activities in the direction of innovation, creativity, career orientation, entrepreneurship and career experience 4.0.
The team of training experts includes lecturers from Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi National University, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the University of Electricity. The training duration includes 3 days of direct training and regular support. Topics include technical guidance on equipment, practice in developing STEM lessons, organizing interdisciplinary teaching and scientific research projects, as well as a series of online seminars on STEM, technological equipment, project design and innovation.
It is expected that localities will complete it before December 30, 2025.
Many provinces and cities have been assigned implementing units such as PVGAS, PVEP, BSR, PTSC, PVPOWER, PVCFC, VSP… with a specific list of survey and completion times. Some localities have completed STEM rooms such as Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An.

Connecting and communicating with international
Petrovietnam’s STEM Innovation also aims to promote the connection and communication between domestic and international STEM departments (first of all with Singapore), with research departments in universities and research institutes in the country on training gifted and talented students. The program creates conditions for organizing STEM clubs, STEM competitions, career guidance and start-up activities and professional sharing sessions for teachers.
The cost of building each STEM room includes all costs of survey, design, renovation, equipment, training and maintenance. The funding source comes from the social security work of Petrovietnam and its member units.
By implementing the program nationwide, Petrovietnam affirms its goal of contributing to promoting innovation, accompanying the care, building and training of high-quality human resources, implementing resolutions on scientific and technological breakthroughs and educational and training breakthroughs. The STEM room system, when put into use, will practically serve teachers and students, contributing to spreading STEM education, promoting innovation in teaching methods and developing science and technology in schools.
Previously, on the morning of September 21, 2025, in Hanoi, within the framework of the 50th anniversary celebration, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group (Petrovietnam) officially launched the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program under the witness of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam Le Manh Hung.
The program is set with a major goal: Building 100 international standard STEM practice rooms within 100 days, with a total cost of about 500 billion VND from Petrovietnam's social security fund.
