Businesses strive to restore production

Due to the impact of storm No. 11, prolonged heavy rains have caused many areas in Thai Nguyen province to be deeply flooded, traffic is cut off, causing heavy damage to people and property. Not only are people's lives affected, hundreds of businesses in the province also suffered great losses in facilities, goods and machinery, with the total estimated damage value reaching thousands of billions of VND. Immediately after the water receded, the spirit of urgency to restore production spread strongly in the business community, demonstrating the will to overcome difficulties and the aspiration to rise of Thai Nguyen's economy.

Aloha Supermarket is expected to reopen in early November. Currently, the supermarket is focusing on importing new goods to ensure supply to serve people during the year-end season.

At Aloha Supermarket (Linh Son Ward), rising floodwaters caused the entire display area and warehouse to be deeply submerged. More than 600,000 products of 25,000 product codes were damaged, with total estimated damage of over 15 billion VND. Despite being heavily affected, just a few days after the flood receded, all supermarket staff urgently cleaned, sanitized, disinfected and took inventory of goods to reopen soon.

Mr. Duong The Hung, Director of Aloha Supermarket, said: The damage is huge, but we are determined to restore as soon as possible to retain customers and stabilize jobs for nearly 100 workers. In early November, the supermarket is expected to partially reopen, focusing on importing new goods, ensuring supply to serve people at the end of the year.

Similarly, Gia Phong Trading Company Limited (Trung Thanh Ward), one of the province's major brick manufacturing enterprises, was also severely affected. Storm No. 11 caused the kiln, drying kiln and brick drying yard to be flooded for many days, causing the entire production line to be temporarily suspended, causing an estimated loss of over VND10 billion. This is the second consecutive year that the enterprise has been affected by major natural disasters (in 2024, storm Yagi caused over VND20 billion in damage).

Mr. Duong Nhu Lam, Director of Gia Phong Company, shared: Learning from last year's experience, this year the unit built a fence 1m higher than the 2024 water level, and raised the power station higher. But this time the flood water rose quickly and exceeded the expected level, so the entire factory was still submerged in water. Immediately after the water receded, we mobilized all forces, including holidays, to repair the damage and quickly put 3 kilns and 2 drying kilns back into operation. Difficulties piled up, but if delayed, the business would not be able to deliver goods to partners in and outside the province on time.

Not only production facilities, many large investment projects in the area have also been affected in progress. A typical example is the Tan Thai Golf Course Sports Complex Project (Dai Phuc Commune), with a total investment of over VND500 billion, a scale of 84.2 hectares, including an international standard 18-hole golf course, an operator's house, ancillary works and green landscape. Although about 80% of the work has been completed, the recent storm has damaged some items, requiring reinforcement and re-construction.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Tien, Director of the Tan Thai Golf Course Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: We were forced to temporarily stop construction to deal with landslides and the drifting sand layer. As soon as the weather was favorable, the unit mobilized maximum human resources and machinery, working three shifts continuously to ensure the project was completed on schedule by the end of 2025.

Faced with the difficulties of the business community, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Business Association quickly compiled the damages and recommended that the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies consider tax deferrals; credit support; and create favorable conditions for businesses to access preferential loans to soon restore production and business activities.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Province Business Association, emphasized: What is admirable is that despite the huge losses, most businesses have not given up. The spirit of initiative, solidarity and sharing difficulties has helped many units quickly stabilize production. That is the mettle of Thai Nguyen businesses - resilient in the face of natural disasters.

Despite facing many challenges, from factories to supermarkets, the image of workers busily cleaning machines and rearranging shelves in the mud has become a symbol of the will, determination and strong vitality of Thai Nguyen enterprises after the natural disaster. Belief in recovery is gradually appearing in every eye, every production line operating stably again...
