| The Ho Chi Minh road project, Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection section (phase 2) through Thai Nguyen province is being accelerated by contractors mobilizing human resources, machinery and equipment. |
The "golden" time for construction
If the rainy and flood months were an involuntary break, now the sounds of engines, road rollers, and dump trucks have returned day and night. On every road, bridge, or drainage culvert, hundreds of engineers and workers are taking advantage of every sunny hour to make up for the progress. Contractors are simultaneously working overtime, dividing shifts to work continuously from 6 a.m. to midnight in the spirit of working in 3 shifts, 4 teams, racing against time.
On the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway, the construction site of more than 28km is entering the phase of the strongest acceleration. According to the Project Management Board, 15 construction units have been mobilized, simultaneously deploying 34 construction teams, of which 29 teams are building the roadbed and 5 teams are constructing key bridges.
More than 240 mechanical equipment such as excavators, vibratory rollers, bulldozers and large-sized bored pile drilling systems operate around the clock. Large construction sites such as Thanh Mai Bridge, Nong Ha Bridge, Phieng Luong Bridge, and Thanh Van Bridge have all restarted after the floods.
Mr. Nguyen The Anh, Construction Section Commander of Joint Stock Company 484, said: After days of heavy rain that caused the machinery to stop working, now is the time to accelerate. The unit mobilized all forces, divided into many construction teams, organized 3 shifts and 4 crews continuously. More than 30 machines of all kinds worked day and night to dig the foundation, fill the soil, construct bridges and culverts, striving to open the route as planned on June 30, 2026.

On the same route, Truong Son Construction Corporation is implementing 4 road sections and 1 bridge section, focusing on boring, pouring foundations and reinforcing slopes. Deo Ca Group is in charge of large bridge projects, mobilizing hundreds of workers along with boring equipment and high-capacity beam casting platforms.
The workload is massive with over 12 million cubic meters of earth and rock, hundreds of box culverts, underpasses and dozens of bridges, but the spirit of acceleration and determination is spreading throughout the route. Construction units have all developed detailed weekly production plans and held daily meetings at the construction site to coordinate human resources and equipment.
In Dinh Hoa and Binh Yen communes, the Ho Chi Minh road section Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection (phase 2) with a length of 12.24 km is also being accelerated. After more than a year of construction, Thai Nguyen province has basically completed the site clearance and handed over the entire route to the construction units.
Contractors are mobilizing maximum human resources and equipment, taking advantage of favorable weather to carry out construction of foundations, sewers and drainage systems.
During a recent field inspection, Provincial Party Secretary Trinh Xuan Truong emphasized: This is not only a vital traffic route connecting the North - Central - South but also a sustainable development path for the midlands and mountainous areas of the North. It is necessary to take advantage of every sunny day and mobilize all resources to ensure the progress, quality and safety of the project.

The urgent atmosphere also covers the route connecting Bac Son Street to the Provincial Sports Complex. The route, which is more than 2.7km long, plays a particularly important role in serving the 2026 Provincial Sports Festival and major events.
With less than 2 months to go, contractors are dividing the construction into many sections, including route opening, foundation filling, bridge construction, culvert construction and drainage system. Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Chief Construction Supervision Consultant of the Thai Nguyen Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: We are mobilizing all resources, working in 3 shifts continuously, ensuring progress while strictly controlling quality. The bridge and roadbed construction sections are all accelerating to the maximum speed to complete by December 2025.
Working together to ensure progress
The province currently has 11 traffic projects under construction and 4 new large-scale projects, some of which are scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. Although difficulties still exist such as lack of dumping sites, problems with site clearance, relocation of power lines or lack of materials, instead of waiting, contractors have chosen the solution of parallel construction, alternating each section.
On construction sites, from early morning to late at night, the headlights are still bright. The sound of drilling machines and engines echoes through the mountains and forests. The “dry season warriors”, from engineers to workers, have a quick meal in the hut and then get back on the machine, sticking to the construction site until late at night.

Mr. Mac Van Nghiep, Director of the Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway Project, affirmed: The dry season is the decisive time. All forces are mobilized to work in 3 shifts, 4 crews, synchronously speeding up the roads, bridges, underpasses and box culverts to keep up with the progress of the route. Despite the difficulties, the spirit of the traffic workers is always steadfast, not retreating.
To ensure progress, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and specialized project management boards regularly hold meetings to review the progress of each project, promptly remove obstacles in capital, site and procedures. According to reports from the Department of Finance and the Department of Construction, despite being affected by floods, investors and contractors have proactively responded and implemented many measures to ensure the progress of key projects in the area.
Recently, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to review the progress of a number of key investment projects. At the meeting, Comrade Bui Van Luong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested relevant departments, branches and localities to strengthen coordination, proactively review and overcome damage caused by natural disasters, and compensate for construction progress according to plan. At the same time, it is necessary to promptly remove difficulties in capital sources, land and legal procedures, ensuring the progress, quality and safety of each project.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: There must be no delay in any of the province's key projects. At the same time, the disbursement of public investment capital must be accelerated, ensuring construction progress and quality. The Finance and Construction sector is committed to speeding up appraisal and settlement, helping contractors have resources to reinvest in equipment and materials for the acceleration period at the end of the year.
The roads and bridges that are gradually taking shape not only connect localities but also connect trust, opening a new development path for the province after natural disasters. When the Ho Chi Minh Highway section through Thai Nguyen is completed, the midland and mountainous region in the North will have another vital traffic axis, expanding economic space; and the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway will become the connecting axis between Hanoi, Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang, creating a strong inter-regional driving force...
Amidst the echoing sound of drilling machines and the night-long construction site lights, engineers, workers, drivers and welders are still working diligently. Each completed meter of road is a testament to the will, belief and spirit of overcoming difficulties of Thai Nguyen after the storm and flood. That image depicts a Thai Nguyen that is rising strongly, extending key routes to serve the development process, towards a bright, green and sustainable journey.
