Launching the Program to Evaluate and Announce Sustainable Enterprises in 2025

(PLVN) - The program is implemented under the direction of the Government to recognize, encourage and commend businesses that practice good sustainable production and business activities, contributing to promoting the building of a community of responsible, sustainable and inclusive business enterprises.

On June 5, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) officially launched the Program for Evaluating and Announcing Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam in 2025 (CSI 2025 Program), marking the 10th consecutive year that VCCI has chaired and organized the Program under the direction of the Government.

This year, the Program continues with the core being the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), with the coordination of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and is expected to have the additional participation and direction of the Ministry of Finance.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Vice President of VCCI, President of VBCSD, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the CSI 2025 Program shared: “The year 2025 has a very special meaning as it marks not only 15 years of operation of VBCSD, but also 10 years of implementing the CSI Program. Recognizing that strengthening corporate governance capacity - the G factor in ESG, will help businesses build a solid "foundation" to successfully implement sustainable development strategies, thereby enhancing competitiveness and resilience, and long-term recovery for businesses, we have pioneered very early in building the CSI Index and implementing the CSI Program. Persevering through 10 years, which is also 2/3 of VBCSD's journey, to do that, has shown the strong vitality of CSI".

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh also emphasized: “In the recent Resolution 68 on private economic development, the content of “Honoring, praising, and rewarding typical, advanced entrepreneurs and enterprises that do effective and sustainable business, fulfill social responsibilities well, and actively participate in community activities” is also clearly stated. Therefore, the CSI Program is more meaningful than ever.”

At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Information Program Secretariat and the CSI 2025 Index made practical adjustments and innovations to promote the spirit of Resolution 68 on private economic development, Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, and a series of Resolutions 138 and 139 issued in May 2025 by the Government.

Specifically, the CSI 2025 Index is structured into 7 main parts, including: Enterprise information; Structure, organizational model and key personnel; Analysis of key issues; Results index in 3 years; Governance index; Environmental index and Labor - Social index. The index has also been streamlined, with only 145 indexes, of which 85 are basic indexes (C) for compliance - accounting for 59%, and 58 are advanced indexes (A) for practical initiatives - equivalent to 41%. Previously, the CSI 2024 had 153 indexes, with 62% C indexes and 38% A indexes.

In addition, the CSI 2025 Program has also developed a separate version of the CSI 2025 Index for small and micro enterprises to attract more small and micro enterprises in the private economic sector to participate in the Program. Thereby, encouraging this group of enterprises to change their business thinking and implement sustainable business more strongly.

For medium and large enterprises, the CSI 2025 Index adds the requirement of "Analyzing key issues", thereby helping enterprises analyze and identify sustainable contents inside and outside the enterprise, in connection with the needs and expectations of the enterprise's stakeholders regarding these contents, thereby helping enterprises clearly see which factors are affecting the sustainable development strategy of the enterprise in order to make appropriate adjustments.

Another notable new feature of the CSI 2025 Program is the integration of technology elements, especially the application of artificial intelligence (AI), to innovate implementation methods, creating more favorable conditions for businesses when participating in the Program and declaring the Index. The profile information of businesses participating in the Program will be systematized in the form of interconnected data (data connection) and secured to support the assessment participation of businesses in the following years and serve as a basis for businesses to be able to prepare sustainability reports when needed.

In 2025, the Organizing Committee said the Program will accept applications from businesses of all sizes and sectors through online submission and will not collect any fees from businesses.

In addition to evaluating and announcing the 100 Sustainable Enterprises, the Top 10 Sustainable Enterprises in the manufacturing sector and the trade and service sector. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the CSI Program, the Organizing Committee will also honor enterprises that have been in the Top 10 and Top 100 of the Program for 10 consecutive years. At the same time, award categories will be created to honor and encourage pioneering enterprises to implement thematic focuses of the content of "sustainable business development".
