Launching "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" and responding to World Environment Day June 5

On the morning of June 5, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City organized the launching ceremony of "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" and respond to World Environment Day June 5 in Tu An ward.

This is a practical activity to celebrate the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024), the 120th anniversary of the founding of Dak Lak province, the 120th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot's formation and development (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024); promote the movement "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", contributing to the successful implementation of the program "Planting one billion trees" launched by the Government and responding to World Environment Day (June 5, 2024) with the theme "Soil restoration, combating drought and desertification".

Attending the ceremony were Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Phu Hung; Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoai Duong; Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Buon Ma Thuot City Tu Thai Giang and representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and units.

In recent years, all levels, sectors, localities, units, organizations and people in the province have actively responded to and participated in the movement of planting trees, afforestation and forest protection. In 2023, the afforestation and tree planting work in the province had positive results, the whole province planted 4,590.3 hectares, reaching 252.6% of the plan.

Representatives of Dak Lak 2/9 Import Export One Member Co., Ltd. and Dakman Company presented trees at the ceremony.

Realizing the great significance of tree planting as well as the importance of trees to human life and environmental protection, in recent times, Dak Lak province in general and Buon Ma Thuot city in particular have always paid attention to developing a green tree system with diverse tree species typical of the Central Highlands.

In Buon Ma Thuot City, the green tree ratio of the whole city is 17.2 m²/person, the inner city is 8.3 m²/person and is considered one of the urban areas with the highest green tree ratio in the country. The green tree system of the city has actively contributed to environmental protection, proactively preventing and combating natural disasters, becoming an urban highlight, contributing to beautifying the natural landscape, developing the economy - society of Dak Lak province in general and Buon Ma Thuot City in particular.

Besides focusing on planting trees, Buon Ma Thuot City also identifies environmental protection as a vital issue for humanity, a factor ensuring the health and quality of life of the people, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the city.

To continue effectively implementing solutions to protect nature and the environment, in the coming time, all levels, sectors, units and localities in the province will continue to promote activities to protect and develop forests, effectively use land resources, water resources and protect the land surface; strictly control waste sources from construction, industrial and agricultural activities; organize and implement activities to classify waste at source; promote the application of advanced, environmentally friendly technologies, circular economic models towards green economic development; strengthen the launch of the Campaign to join hands to protect resources, protect the environment, and respond to climate change with practical and effective actions; strengthen the implementation and replication of effective models in land restoration, drought and desertification prevention, etc.

After the launching ceremony, delegates participated in planting 170 Lagerstroemia trees donated by Dak Lak 2/9 Import Export One Member Co., Ltd. and Dakman Company at the median strip of Vo Nguyen Giap Street.
