Maximizing strengths, effectively exploiting potential, opening up new cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and Armenia

Continuing the Vietnam - Armenia Business Dialogue program held this morning, April 2 (local time), or the same afternoon Vietnam time, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, businesses of the two countries shared and discussed potentials, strengths and areas where the two sides can strengthen cooperation in the coming time.

In a frank and open atmosphere, based on suggestions for the orientation of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, at the seminar, businesses from Vietnam and Armenia shared and introduced the strengths and potentials for cooperation that both sides can exploit, in order to turn potential into real results. Armenian businesses said that although geographically far apart, the two countries have many similarities in history, culture, etc. Over the past 30 years, Armenia and Vietnam have continuously promoted effective cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral levels. This is a solid foundation for businesses from both countries to carry out cooperation activities in areas where both sides have strengths. Armenian businesses expressed their willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of textiles, tourism, agriculture , etc.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines To Ngoc Giang said that as the national airline of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is proud to be an important aviation bridge, contributing to promoting the development of tourism, trade and investment between Vietnam and international partners.

Over the years, Vietnam Airlines has continuously expanded its flight network and improved service quality to meet the increasing demands of passengers. As of March 2025, Vietnam Airlines operates 96 routes, including 60 international routes and 36 domestic routes, connecting 54 destinations, including 32 international destinations and 22 domestic destinations. As a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, Vietnam Airlines also cooperates with many other airlines, expanding its flight network to connect more than 1,100 destinations worldwide. In 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to launch and restore 15 international routes to destinations such as Milan (Italy), Copenhagen (Denmark), Dubai (Middle East), Russia, Daxing - Beijing, China... expanding trade opportunities, promoting international cooperation and aiming for Vietnam's goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors this year.

“Vietnam Airlines’ efforts to expand its international flight network not only strengthen commercial connections but also contribute to promoting Vietnamese culture and people to the world. This is the mission that the national airline has steadfastly pursued over the past 30 years, accompanying the country on its proud journey of “taking off”, Mr. To Ngoc Giang affirmed.

The Armenian market has long-term growth potential. Mr. To Ngoc Giang said that in 2024, the number of passengers between Vietnam and Armenia will reach 826, a slight increase compared to 2023, but only 30% compared to the pre-pandemic period. There are currently no direct flights between the two countries, with passengers mainly connecting via Doha and Dubai on Qatar Airways and Emirates flights.

Faced with the potential and opportunities of the Armenian market, Mr. To Ngoc Giang emphasized that Vietnam Airlines is closely monitoring developments and actual needs to research and exploit suitable flight routes in the future. Through today's discussion program, Vietnam Airlines wishes to accompany the development of Vietnam - Armenia cooperation, bringing practical values ​​to businesses and people of the two countries," said Mr. To Ngoc Giang.

In his concluding remarks at the seminar, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the opinions, sharing, exchanges and very open proposals on policies and solutions to enhance investment and business cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia; the solutions are all very practical and effective to enhance investment and business cooperation between our two countries in the coming time.

Providing information on the outstanding results in Vietnam's socio-economic development in recent times, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha stated that although the two-way trade turnover is still modest, the potential and room for businesses of the two countries to continue expanding cooperation is still large, specifically in the fields of green economy, digital economy, energy conversion, processed food, textiles, electronic materials, industrial park infrastructure, finance, mining industry, energy, tourism, agriculture, etc. Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that businesses of the two countries will increase exchanges, share experiences, promote the achievements of cooperation, in order to take advantage of and effectively exploit the space, open up new cooperation opportunities, and maximize the strengths of each country.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that businesses of the two countries take advantage of and effectively implement the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Armenia is a member, to promote the exchange of goods, increase import and export, enhance market opening and create more favorable conditions for businesses of both sides; strive to increase bilateral trade turnover even higher in the coming years, commensurate with the potential, strengths and good cooperative relations between the two countries.

Emphasizing the wish that the Government agencies and businesses of the two countries will further strengthen cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam is always ready to create the most favorable conditions for investment and business activities of Armenian enterprises in Vietnam; at the same time, he affirmed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for Armenia to strengthen relations with ASEAN and hopes that Armenia will act as a bridge for Vietnam to strengthen cooperation with countries in the Eurasian economic region.
