Promoting 80 years of tradition, the Agriculture and Environment sector is moving towards a new development path.

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of November 5, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a press conference to announce activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Agriculture and Environment sector (1945-2025) and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress. This is an important political and social event, marking the 80-year journey of construction, growth and dedication of the Agriculture and Environment sector - an important pillar in the country's sustainable development.

A series of activities to spread the spirit of innovation and green development

According to the plan, the commemorative activities will take place from July to December 2025, with many rich programs, spreading widely across the country. The focus will be the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress, held on the morning of November 12, 2025 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), with the participation of more than 1,200 delegates, including leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, advanced models, and international representatives.

In addition, the Exhibition of 80 Years of Achievements in Agriculture and Environment will introduce outstanding milestones through the ages, scientific and technological achievements, typical production models and green and sustainable development initiatives.

The series of activities also includes the Gala Dinner program on the evening of November 11 at the Ministry's headquarters; the "Return to the Source" program at the Ministry of Agriculture's relic site (Tuyen Quang); the ceremony of attaching welcome signs at Phu Sa Pumping Station (Hanoi) and Tho Quang Fishing Port (Da Nang).

Propaganda work was promoted with the documentary "80 years of Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment"; the publication "A peaceful environment, prosperous agriculture"; yearbook, photo and document exhibition space, and the 6th Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Journalism Award with the theme "Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment Entering a New Era".

Honoring typical emulation models - Arousing the spirit of creativity

At the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress, the Agriculture and Environment sector was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal. On this occasion, the Ministry also commended 57 collectives, 151 typical advanced individuals, along with 30 cooperatives, 24 typical farmers and farm owners in the period 2020-2025.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan An, Deputy Director of the Department of Personnel Organization, in the past 5 years, the emulation movement of the industry has been widely deployed, associated with key tasks such as new rural construction, sustainable poverty reduction, innovation, digital transformation, forest protection and development, plastic pollution reduction, natural disaster prevention, etc. The movement has become a direct driving force to promote agricultural restructuring, resource protection and climate change response.

Thanks to that, in the 2020-2025 period, the growth rate of added value of the whole industry reached 3.12%/year, exceeding the set target; the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increased by 3.52%/year; export turnover reached 58.13 billion USD after 10 months of 2025, and is expected to reach nearly 79 billion USD for the whole year - a record high.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien emphasized: "The preparations for the 80th Anniversary of the industry have been carried out carefully, elaborately, and thoroughly censored to demonstrate the spirit and identity of the Agriculture and Environment industry in its journey with the country." With a vibrant competitive spirit, the Agriculture and Environment industry is moving towards a new stage of development - greener, more modern and more sustainable, continuing to affirm the industry's pivotal role in the country's development.
