The magical phenomenon of Buddha's light on Fansipan peak
A landscape staff at Sun World Fansipan Legend shared that this afternoon, June 1, when the staff of the tourist area were rushing to prepare for the Buddha's birthday on June 3, the Buddha's light phenomenon suddenly appeared and lasted for about 9 minutes. Especially with the combination of the late afternoon light and the mist, the Great Amitabha Buddha Statue reflected right next to the Buddha's light, attracting the attention of many visitors present, believing that this was the miracle of Buddhism.
Ms. Hoang Thuy Ngan, Hanoi said: "Right when my friends and I were taking pictures with the lanterns prepared by the tourist area, suddenly someone shouted loudly that Buddha had appeared. Looking to the side, I saw the light of Buddha, combined with the mist, creating an extremely magical space. This phenomenon was truly magical to me, especially right before Buddha's birthday, which is scheduled to take place on June 3."
Explaining this phenomenon, Dr. Le Huy Minh, Institute of Geophysics - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology once shared that this is a very rare natural phenomenon in Vietnam and is rarely observed, called "halo". This phenomenon is created when sunlight or moonlight passes through ice crystals and is refracted or reflected, creating circles. The solar halo has 7 brilliant colors, looks incredibly beautiful and magical.
Along La Han Street and the roads leading to the spiritual complex are decorated with thousands of Buddhist flags.
Today (April 15th of the lunar calendar) is Buddha's birthday, recognized by the United Nations as a world cultural and spiritual festival since 1999. This is one of the three biggest holidays of the year in Buddhism, commemorating the birth of Buddha Shakyamuni in the 7th century BC. At the spiritual complex on the top of Fansipan this year, activities and ceremonies to celebrate Buddha's birthday will take place from 10am to 9pm on June 3rd (April 16th of the lunar calendar).
Rushing to prepare for Buddha's birthday
A representative of Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area said that this year's Buddha's birthday celebration was held on an unprecedented scale. The program took the theme "Buddha's blessings" and was chaired by Venerable Thich Duc Thien - Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. As of May 30, the event had attracted hundreds of monks, nuns, and Buddhists of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha from all over the country to register to attend.
On the afternoon of June 1, all the spiritual architectural works at an altitude of 2,900m on the top of Fansipan were decorated with thousands of colorful festival flags. Along with that, Buddhists across the country offered nearly 3,000 fresh lotus flowers to Fansipan, all of which will be combined into a large lotus scene in the cloud yard area. Inside the Great Buddha Statue, where the main ceremonies took place, hundreds of fresh chrysanthemums and 37 large-sized paintings depicting the life of Buddha Shakyamuni were displayed.
Accordingly, on the morning of June 3, at the Fansipan spiritual complex at an altitude of 2,900m, a grand ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity will take place. The grand ceremony will be solemnly held with traditional Buddhist rituals, including a flag procession from the Great Amitabha Buddha Statue, through the La Han path along the mountain and ending with an incense offering ceremony at Kim Son Bao Thang Tu.
Lanterns will light up the sacred peak of Fansipan
On the afternoon of June 3, inside the Great Amitabha Buddha Statue at the highest altitude in Asia, the "Buddha's blessing" ceremony will take place. Venerable Thich Duc Thien and monks, nuns, and Buddhists in blue robes will chant the Dharmachakra Sutra and the Buddha's Birthday Sutra. Notably, this is the first time a Dharma talk has been held at Fansipan to celebrate Buddha's birthday. The Dharma talk program has the theme "Buddha's blessing" and is given by Venerable Thich Duc Thien.
In particular, attending the Buddha's Birthday ceremony at Fansipan this year, tourists and Buddhists have a "unique" opportunity to attend the "Thousand Flower Lanterns Offering to Buddha" ceremony at the area of the Great Amitabha Buddha Statue.
Sun World Fansipan Legend, with the offerings of many Buddhists, has prepared nearly 1,000 lanterns for attendees. In the vast space of the sacred peak, the light of the lanterns is like a lamp of wisdom, illuminating the way for Buddhists to conquer more than 100 stone steps towards the tallest Amitabha Buddha Statue in Asia. Nearly 1,000 lanterns will also be used to arrange the words "Quoc Thai", "Dan An" and "Van" in the yard surrounding the Buddha Statue. All will create a masterpiece of light, bringing a shimmering, magical scene to the sacred peak of Fansipan./.
