Two main topics were discussed: "Biotechnology for the development of the healthcare sector" and "Digital transformation for the development of the healthcare sector". The content of cell technology changing life, especially in the protection and care of human health was emphasized.
Scientists shared important contents in the forum on the application of biotechnology in medicine, cell therapy, stem cell application, research on medicinal gene sources, personalized 3D printing technology; digital transformation, open data in the medical industry, application of artificial intelligence in health care, digital application in pharmaceutical business. Many scientists and experts believe that biotechnology and cell therapy are promoting a revolution in the medical field, helping to treat diseases more effectively.
Technology Development and Innovation in Health involves the development and implementation of new processes, products, programs, policies, or systems to improve health and equity in access to health services.
Speaking at the forum, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc - Deputy Minister of Health said that innovation will address the challenges and increasing needs of health care activities, it takes place in all stages from primary health care, disease prevention, medical examination, treatment, production of drugs, vaccines, biological products and medical equipment. Technology development and innovation in health care requires coordination between medical experts, technologists, policy makers, and investors to bring about positive changes in the context of the 4.0 revolution that is taking place strongly today.
As one of three research units on cell technology invited by the Department of Science, Technology and Training - Ministry of Health to participate in activities in the event, the Mescells Institute for Applied Cell Technology Research shared many advanced scientific solutions, cell technology... The potential applications of mesenchymal stem cell technology in health care; Cell extraction, culture, storage, research processes; cell reception, preservation, storage and supply activities of the Mescells Tissue Bank... were shared and attracted the attention of many experts and people.
Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam - Director of the Mescells Cell Technology Application Research Institute said that technology in medicine has developed quite rapidly in recent years. Therefore, this is an opportunity for experts and people to access medical technology in Vietnam. Previously, we had many technologies applied in medicine, in recent years cell technology is one of the developing technologies. In our country, there are both public and private units that have been able to apply cell technology in medicine in the future. With this technology, some diseases will have a higher chance of recovery.

Sharing about cell therapy for incurable diseases, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy, said that advanced stem cell technology will promote a revolution in medicine. Currently, diseases that are allowed to be treated with stem cells are cirrhosis, biliary atresia, spinal cord injury, and knee osteoarthritis.
Diseases being studied for stem cell transplantation treatment are stroke, traumatic brain injury, COPD, autism, cerebral palsy, geriatric health decline, male/female hormone deficiency, and CAR-T therapy for hematological cancers.
Dr. Pham Van Phuc - Stem Cell Institute, University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that cell therapy in general, stem cell therapy and immune cell therapy in particular, are adding another option in treatment therapies. For cell therapy to truly benefit many people, innovation in cell technology is required to increase the value and reduce the price of therapy.
" Cell therapy is becoming an industry, cell products and cell-based products are opening up a new industry, using cells not only to treat diseases but also to improve health. Cells need to be controlled and quality assured according to standards for each application to ensure safety and effectiveness when used on humans" - Dr. Pham Van Phuc shared.
