Free surgery for cleft lip and palate

Hanoi Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology cooperated with the non-governmental organization Smile Train to launch "Action Month for cleft lip and palate patients in 2025" in June 2025, to provide free examination and treatment for patients in provinces and cities.

This activity is part of Project 5628 of the Ministry of Health , helping people with cleft lip and palate access high-quality medical services.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Cao Binh, Director of the Hanoi Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, in recent years the hospital has successfully performed 3,300 free surgeries for patients with cleft lip and palate. This June, the hospital will examine and perform free surgeries; provide centralized examinations and instructions on oral care for patients with cleft lip and palate.

Of which, from June 9 to 12, it was deployed at: Hanoi National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, Ha Dong General Hospital (Hanoi). Continued deployment at the National Children's Hospital (Hanoi) on June 20; Children's Hospital (HCMC) on June 27; Hong Ngoc General Hospital (Hanoi) on June 30.

Since 2007, Smile Train has supported more than 31,000 cleft palate surgeries, speech therapy, hearing care and dental treatments.
