The number of suspected food poisoning cases after eating bread in Ho Chi Minh City continues to increase, with 171 cases hospitalized.

Hospitals in the area continue to receive more cases showing signs of suspected food poisoning after eating Ms. B's Toad Bread. To date, 171 cases have been recorded and hospitalized at 8 hospitals.

Regarding the suspected poisoning after eating bread at Co B Toad Bread, Nguyen Thai Son Street (Hanh Thong Ward) and Le Quang Dinh Street (Binh Loi Trung Ward), on November 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that as of 10:00 a.m. the same day , 171 cases had been recorded for examination and treatment at 8 hospitals in the city, with 65 cases currently being treated as inpatients .

Specifically, Military Hospital 175 has received 100 cases. Of these, 13 cases are being treated as inpatients, and 87 cases have been discharged for outpatient treatment.

Tam Anh General Hospital received 20 cases. Of which, 1 case is at Branch 2 Le Quang Dinh. Currently, 13 cases are still being treated as inpatients (1 case is in ICU).

Gia Dinh People's Hospital received 36 cases, of which 8 cases ate bread at branch 2 Le Quang Dinh. Currently, 24 cases are being treated as inpatients. There was 1 case admitted to the hospital on November 5, blood culture positive for Salmonella.

There have been 171 suspected cases of food poisoning after eating bread at Ms. B's Toad Bread.

Binh Dan Hospital received 1 case, which has now been discharged for outpatient treatment. My Duc Tan Binh Hospital received 1 case, a 28-year-old pregnant woman, 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant, who is currently receiving inpatient treatment. Becamex International Hospital received 6 cases, all of whom are receiving inpatient treatment.

Trung My Tay General Hospital received 5 cases, including 1 case of eating cake at branch 2 Le Quang Dinh, currently being treated as an inpatient. Children's Hospital 2 received 2 cases, currently being treated as inpatients.

Most patients present with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, fatigue, varying degrees of severity. The common diagnosis for these cases is infection - food poisoning.

Notably, after eating bread, one person was admitted to Tam Anh General Hospital in critical condition and is being treated in the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department (ICU). A pregnant woman in danger of premature birth is being treated at My Duc Tan Binh Hospital.

Initially, clinical and paraclinical data of most patients with food poisoning after eating bread were consistent with enteric bacterial agents, most likely Salmonella.

The verification results of the inspection team of Hanh Thong Ward People's Committee on November 7 at branch 1 Nguyen Thai Son showed that at the time of inspection, the business household was temporarily suspended from operation.

Food products including ham, cold cuts, pate, eggs, vegetables, peppers, cucumbers, etc. all have invoices and documents proving their clear origin. The facility is equipped with refrigerators to preserve food and has a record book for importing and exporting goods. Processing and preservation tools ensure hygiene. The processing area has a roof and measures to protect against insects and harmful animals.

The delegation sealed the food cabinets to verify and investigate the cause of the incident.

Branch 2 Le Quang Dinh has also stopped operating. It is known that the bakery is just a pushcart, selling on the sidewalk.

Co B. Toad Bread Shop (Nguyen Thai Son) is registered for business under business registration certificate No. 41M8041520 issued by the People's Committee of Go Vap District (old) on May 7, 2020, the business line is selling bread. The owner of the establishment is Ms. Ly Nguyen Ngoc Bich Van.

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Ministry of Health and directed hospitals to ensure admission, classification and treatment according to the food poisoning treatment regimen issued by the Department of Health.
