At the end of the book, she wrote: “If you follow me on Instagram, you probably thought this book would be written in emojis, right?” She said this because in her social media posts, the singer often uses a lot of emojis.

However, Britney did not completely hide the fact that there was an anonymous ghost-writer behind this book. In her thank you note, she thanked those who helped her, but did not name them specifically.

According to two sources close to the project, three authors contributed to the release of The Woman in Me.

One of them was Ada Calhoun, the author of five popular nonfiction books. She took on the first draft , before Sam Lansky, a former editor at Time magazine, and Luke Dempsey, a writer and author of a book about Elvis Presley's family, "dipped" into the final version.

Sharing with The New York Times , David Kuhn - CEO of Aevitas Creative Management Literary Company, said that celebrities often collaborate with famous writers when they decide to tell their life stories.

So the making of The Woman in Me was similar to the making of pop hits today, which often rely on the collective contributions of many musicians and sound engineers.

According to sources, after the contract was signed, Britney traveled to Maui, Hawaii, to write down the details of her life in a notebook. Calhoun then showed up, and the two conducted a series of lengthy interviews, leading to the first draft being released - just before Britney married actor and personal trainer Sam Asghari in a ceremony at her home in Los Angeles.

Still, Britney felt the tone of the draft wasn't her own, so Lansky stepped in. As a former music editor, he was well-placed to bring Britney to life through writing. The two conducted numerous phone and Zoom interviews to produce the second draft.

In the fall of 2022, Luke Dempsey, an editor at Gallery Publishing, completed the manuscript, and it was officially released last October.

However, all three individuals refused to answer and comment further when asked about their roles in the memoir The Woman in Me .

Since its release, Britney Spears has only given one interview to People about this autobiography. The pop princess said: “It’s finally time for me to speak up, and my fans deserve to hear it directly. No more conspiracies, no more lies, just me owning my past, present and future.”
