Major General Mai Nang is a war invalid, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Commander of the 126th Naval Group (now the 126th Naval Special Forces Brigade), and former Commander of the Special Forces. He passed away at his home in 2019 at the age of 90.

Major General Mai Nang and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Que, People's Armed Forces Heroes, former Commander of the 126th Naval Group, directly commanded and fought in the campaign to liberate Truong Sa archipelago in April 1975, contributing with the army and people of the whole country to the great victory of Spring 1975, liberating the South and reunifying the country.

Rear Admiral Do Van Yen and the delegation expressed their gratitude for the contributions of Major General Mai Nang and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Que in the resistance wars for national liberation and protection of the Fatherland as well as participating in force building, researching and developing unique and creative fighting methods, achieving high combat efficiency for the Navy Special Forces.

The Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy wished the families of Major General Mai Nang and Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Que good health, continued to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers,educated their children to promote family traditions, and contributed to building their homeland to develop and become rich with the country.
