At the workshop, the two sides shared and exchanged experiences, reviewed policies, legal regulations, and current local customary laws to adjust, supplement, and perfect them in accordance with international standards or make recommendations to the central level, including proposing to sign a separate protocol for cross-border conservation management of heritage to facilitate coordination of activities between the two sides, and access for scientists , tourists from both countries and internationally.
Speaking at the workshop, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam affirmed that the locality is committed to continuing to inherit and well implement the agreements signed between the two provinces (formerly Quang Binh and Khammouane province) on cross-border cooperation in the field of conservation and promotion of biodiversity values and world heritages in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and Hin Nam No National Park.
At the same time, the content of cross-border heritage conservation will be included in the high-level cooperation between Quang Tri and Khammouane provinces, and we will continue to accompany Khammouane province in its efforts to conserve and promote the values of the cross-border world heritage sites of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and Hin Nam No National Park in the coming time.
Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee assigned Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board as the standing agency, presiding over and coordinating with the provincial departments and branches to study and advise the Provincial People's Committee to effectively and efficiently implement the contents of the signed agreements. Coordinate and advise on the development and completion of the framework and plan for cross-border cooperation between Phong Nha - Ke Bang and Hin Nam No for the leaders of the two provinces to consider and report to the Governments of the two countries for implementation direction.
Congratulating the Party Committee, government and people of Khammouane province on the event of Hin Nam No National Park being the first cross-border heritage and also the first world natural heritage of Laos to be recognized by UNESCO, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that this is a very good opportunity for Khammouane and Quang Tri provinces to promote tourism development, protect the green environment, and contribute to sustainable socio-economic development.
Within the framework of the visit and participation in the workshop in Khammouane province, the delegation of Quang Tri province visited and paid a courtesy visit to the Central Committee member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Khammouane province, Van-xay Phong-savanh.
