Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected landslide recovery in Quang Ngai

On the afternoon of October 30, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee Tran Hong Ha inspected the landslide situation, causing traffic congestion on Highway 623 Son Ha - Son Tay, Quang Ngai province.

Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister were Central Party Committee member, Quang Ngai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien; Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang.

Inspecting the serious landslide at Km 15+900 in Ra Nhua village, Son Tay commune, with tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and rock spilling onto the road, causing traffic disruption and isolating about 6,000 people in Son Tay commune, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Quang Ngai province to coordinate with the army to mobilize all means to focus on overcoming the landslide day and night from both sides to clear the road on October 31.

At the same time, there is a plan to mobilize human resources to carry essential necessities to promptly support people in isolated areas, absolutely not letting any household go hungry due to traffic jams.

Directly calling some isolated households in Son Tay commune, the Deputy Prime Minister inquired about their lives and encouraged them to show mutual love, care, and help each other overcome the current difficulties; the authorities will bring the most necessary necessities to the people as soon as possible.

Referring to the landslide recovery plan, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that not only the landslide at Km 15+900 on DT.623 route but also at more than 200 landslide locations caused by floods and rains on provincial roads and authorized national highways, Quang Ngai province needs to focus on mobilizing vehicles to take advantage of favorable weather, speed up the recovery progress, soon open the route, and connect traffic smoothly between regions.

In the long term, Quang Ngai province needs to determine the cause, from which there will be solutions to solidly build embankments at landslide sites, ensuring safety and smooth traffic during the rainy season.

Immediately after inspecting the landslide scene, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also took time to visit and give gifts to some households affected by the landslide in Son Tay commune.

Working with Quang Ngai province on disaster recovery, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the locality's proactive and decisive response to natural disasters in recent days, thereby significantly minimizing human and property damage.

Emphasizing that the flood and landslide situation in Quang Ngai is still complicated, especially in mountainous, midland and coastal areas, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the province needs to pay special attention to the risk of flash floods, proactively overcome landslides, ensure the smooth flow of key traffic routes, create favorable conditions for rescue and relief work and support people in disaster-hit areas to quickly return to normal life.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with Quang Ngai province to comprehensively assess the damage, determine the cause and response capacity of the locality, thereby proposing effective support and remedial solutions; the military and police forces continue to coordinate and support Quang Ngai province in preventing and fighting natural disasters, relocating residents, restoring infrastructure and stabilizing people's lives.

On this occasion, through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha presented 5 billion VND in support to Quang Ngai province to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
