Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang appointed Head of the Central Economic Commission

On the afternoon of August 21, General Secretary and President To Lam chaired the announcement of the Politburo 's decisions on personnel transfers and assignments. Accordingly, the Politburo decided to assign Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister, to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang (57 years old), from Trang Bang Town, Tay Ninh Province, has a master's degree in public administration and mechanical engineering. Mr. Quang started his career as a specialist at the Department of Planning and Investment of Tay Ninh Province and has held many positions in units of this province such as: Head of Department of Planning and Investment; Deputy Head of the Management Board of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone; Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Chairman of the People's Committee and then Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee.

In January 2011, Mr. Quang was elected as an alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee, holding the following positions: Provincial Party Committee member, Trang Bang District Party Committee Secretary, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Tay Ninh Province.

At the 12th Party Congress (January 2016), Mr. Quang was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee. In February 2019, Mr. Quang was mobilized and assigned by the Politburo to be the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

At the 13th National Party Congress (January 2021), he continued to be elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, then assigned as Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. Mr. Quang is also a delegate of the 15th National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City.

In January 2023, at the 2nd extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly, together with Mr. Tran Hong Ha, Mr. Tran Luu Quang was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister.
