Strengthening coordination

The effectiveness of the coordination work in recent times has been clearly demonstrated through the fact that the two forces have jointly discovered and handled hundreds of complicated cases, thousands of subjects related to security and order; together successfully resolved cases of illegal entry and exit, smuggling, trade fraud, illegal transportation of goods, counterfeit goods, drug trafficking, etc.

Major Hoang Minh Tuan, Head of the Tinh Bien International Border Control Station, An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, said: “Tinh Bien Border Gate plays a very important role and significance in the economic development of the region, where goods circulate, trade and tourism develop, and transnational crime is prevented.
As the core, specialized force at the border gate complex, we regularly coordinate closely with the customs force at the border gate. We regularly exchange information, operational situations, incidents, and suspicious subjects, and together inspect and control people, vehicles, and goods passing through the border gate.
Similar to Tinh Bien, at Ha Tien International Border Gate and Vinh Xuong International Border Gate, recently, border guards and customs forces have regularly exchanged and agreed on contents in patrolling, controlling, and exchanging important information in handling cases.
During the coordination process, the two units agreed to focus on inspection, supervision, and control of entry and exit, key import and export issues regarding risk management and items with high potential for fraud.
Comrade Tran SoNy, Captain of Ha Tien Customs shared: “Implementing the coordination regulations between the two forces, we have built a cooperative relationship of solidarity, closeness, responsibility, and mutual support to complete the task. Mr. Ngo Thanh Sinh, a private enterprise in Ha Tien ward, An Giang province, shared: “I often go back and forth to Ha Tien International Border Gate to buy and sell. The customs and border guards always facilitate the procedures quickly, ensuring safety, smoothness, and no inconvenience. In addition, we are always informed and reminded not to transport prohibited goods and to be responsible in supporting the functional forces to protect the border, prevent crime, and ensure security and order at the border gate. We are very satisfied with the working attitude of the functional forces at the border gate”...
In recent times, the two forces have regularly exchanged and shared information with each other on new regulations and new documents of their forces related to border protection, immigration management, import and export, and trade management. The interaction between the forces has been shown consistently, responsibly, and synchronously in all activities and fields.
Sharing a common goal: Firmly protecting the border
The border guards are responsible for controlling immigration and emigration, maintaining security and order in border areas, and preventing illegal acts such as smuggling and illegal immigration. Meanwhile, customs is responsible for inspecting and supervising goods, collecting taxes, and preventing trade fraud.
Although their missions are somewhat different, both forces are aimed at a common goal: protecting national sovereignty , ensuring economic security and facilitating trade activities.
The coordination model between Border Guard and Customs has been effectively implemented. The two forces regularly hold meetings, share professional information, coordinate patrols and control, and handle complex situations.
Sharing a common monitoring system and data on suspicious objects and goods with signs of violations helps improve work efficiency, reduce processing time and avoid overlap.
Not only do they coordinate in work, border guards and customs officers are also closely connected in daily life. Sports and cultural exchanges, mutual support in mass mobilization work, and helping people in border areas have created a close and lasting relationship. This solidarity is not only the foundation for work efficiency but also a beautiful symbol of responsibility and comradeship on the front line of the Fatherland.
Towards modernization and integration
In the context of international integration, modernizing inspection and supervision at border gates is an urgent requirement. Border guards and customs are jointly deploying technological solutions such as automatic inspection systems, surveillance cameras, and software for managing immigration and goods.
Unanimity in administrative procedure reform, improving staff capacity and applying technology will be the key for the two forces to continue to excellently fulfill their tasks in the new period.
