Parents accuse teacher of insulting student, causing him to collapse, 'losing more than 10 kilos'

Recently, Ms. Dinh Thi C. (residing in Krong Buk District, Dak Lak ) filed a complaint against teacher PQA (32 years old, previously working at Le Loi Secondary School, now transferred to Le Lai Primary - Secondary School, Ea Hiao Commune, Ea H'leo District, Dak Lak) for using insulting words that caused her daughter to fall into a state of severe stress, had to be hospitalized for psychological treatment and lost more than 10 kg in a few months.

Female student stressed because teacher scolded her "brainless"?

According to Ms. C., due to her divorce, her daughter TTN returned to live with her father in Ea H'leo district and studied there. In the 2022-2023 school year, N. studied in class 8A6 at Le Loi Secondary School, with Ms. QA as the homeroom teacher and math teacher. At the beginning of the school year, N. attended Ms. QA's extra class, but after 3 months, N. asked to quit because she had a relative tutoring her.

Mrs. C. believes that N.'s absence from Ms. QA's class may have been the reason why her daughter was discriminated against, insulted, and severely humiliated, leading to her current situation. After hearing her daughter briefly confide in her over the phone, she went to see her daughter and was very worried when she saw her daughter's serious weakness.

N. was skinny and lost more than 10 kg. Her parents thought she was stressed because her teacher was insulting her.

"Seeing my child was weak, I took her to see a psychologist in Ho Chi Minh City. There, I heard her tell the doctor that she had been repeatedly insulted by the teacher, leading to depression, so I was very upset and decided to file a complaint against Ms. QA. Currently, my daughter has lost more than 10 kilos and is severely malnourished," said Ms. C.

N. said that since she stopped taking extra classes, teacher QA has always paid special attention to her, from her uniform to her cleaning duties... If N. violates the rules, the teacher will scold her a lot and force her to stand while studying. According to N., there was a time she was scolded in front of the class by the teacher, "Do you have no brain?", "Can you be normal and not violate the rules?"...

"At night when I go to bed, I often remember what my teacher scolded me and it haunts me. I often close the door and stay alone thinking about what my teacher said and I am very scared every time I go to her class. She discriminates against me. When other students make mistakes, she doesn't pay attention like she does to me," said N.

Ms. C. shared that Ms. QA called to apologize and hoped that the family would forgive her, but she did not come to N's house to apologize or ask about her. Therefore, she transferred her daughter to another school and is currently providing psychological treatment at home for N.

The teacher admitted to being harsh.

Regarding the incident, Ms. QA said that because N. often violated the rules, when she was angry, she reminded her and used inappropriate words. This teacher also said that once, she punished N. by making him stand in the classroom for about 10 minutes because of the violation. However, Ms. QA denied discriminating against N. because he missed extra classes. "I admit that I used inappropriate words towards N. If I was wrong, I take responsibility for it. In my class, I treat all students fairly, and anyone who violates the rules is punished as a deterrent," Ms. QA said.

According to Ms. QA, stress has many causes, not excluding the impact from family circumstances. The family's statement that N. was stressed because she scolded her harshly was an accusation against her.

Regarding the teacher not going to the student's house to apologize, Ms. QA said that she was afraid that if she went to the house, N.'s mother would take a photo of her and post it on social media, leading to a complicated situation, so she did not dare to visit the student.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Principal of Le Loi Secondary School, said that after receiving the petition from the parents, the school directly visited student N. In the near future, the school will invite the QA teacher to work and clarify the contents of the petition.

According to a leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ea H'leo District (Dak Lak), the unit has grasped information about the above incident and is assigning the school to work with the parties, thoroughly investigate the incident to find a reasonable solution.
