Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue are investing in building mobile base transceiver stations (BTS) to provide telephone coverage on the Cam Lo - La Son and La Son - Tuy Loan expressways.
According to Mr. Tran Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Quang Tri, the Department and 3 telecommunications enterprises surveyed and planned to build 10-12 new BTS stations along the 37 km Cam Lo - La Son expressway through the area. The number of newly built BTS stations will be divided equally among the enterprises and the infrastructure will be shared to save money.
Of which, Viettel Quang Tri built 4 new BTS stations and upgraded 2 existing stations. "The biggest difficulty is that this area does not have grid electricity, we have to use solar panels, and use batteries at night," said Mr. Bui Minh Thuan, Director of Viettel Quang Tri branch. It is expected that the 4 stations will be put into use from July.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Thua Thien Hue province, said that the unit is also promoting with the network operator to build BTS stations on the two expressways La Son - Tuy Loan and Cam Lo - La Son passing through the area. In particular, the province prioritizes installing BTS stations on the expressway section passing through Bach Ma National Park, where there is no phone signal.
Viettel Thua Thien Hue branch alone will build 7 BTS stations. Currently, 2 stations are being built on La Son - Tuy Loan highway.
The Cam Lo - La Son Expressway is 98.3 km long, connecting Quang Tri with Thua Thien Hue. The La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway is more than 77 km long, connecting Thua Thien Hue with Da Nang, of which more than 11 km passes through Bach Ma National Park. On these two routes, there is no phone signal, or it is very unstable, making it difficult for rescue work and communication for drivers.
