Cam Duong Ward is one of the areas heavily affected by the floods in 2024 - 2025, with many landslides and risks of insecurity, directly affecting people's lives and schools. Faced with that reality, Cam Duong has been interested in implementing anti-landslide embankment projects, focusing on key locations, including the project to handle landslides and stabilize the slope behind Lao Cai Specialized High School; emergency works to prevent landslides in residential areas of groups 13, 14, 15 along 23 - 9 road.
Speed up the construction of embankment on 23-9 road
One of the main reasons why the emergency landslide prevention project for residential areas of groups 13, 14, and 15 along 23-9 road was sometimes behind schedule was the impact of floods in August and September 2025.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Thang - Head of Project Management Department, Cam Duong - Hop Thanh Construction Investment Project Management Board said: "The adverse weather affected the construction progress, but as soon as conditions allowed, the investor directed the contractor to organize two construction teams to speed up the progress. The project has also been considered by Cam Duong Ward People's Committee to extend until December 31. Currently, the contractor is actively constructing the project."
The project design is divided into many sections with specific construction solutions such as digging slope tarpaulin combined with reinforced concrete retaining walls, reinforcing the slope with soil nails combined with beam frame system, reinforcing the slope with reinforced soil retaining wall system combined with prestressed soil anchors, building counter-pressure pedestals... to ensure long-term landslide prevention and ground stability.
Currently, some items such as cable anchoring system, ground nails, underground drainage and slope treatment have reached over 65% of the volume. Quality management is also enhanced through regular monitoring and acceptance of each construction layer.

Mr. Nguyen The Trong - Deputy Director of Minh Duc General Construction Company Limited, the project contractor, said: "As soon as the weather was favorable, the unit mobilized human resources to quickly deploy the project. Currently, the reinforcement and cable anchoring work has been completed, only the earth filling and road surface and drainage ditches on 23-9 Street remain. It is expected that the project will be completed before December 31.
Ensure completion of main items of the embankment behind Lao Cai Specialized High School
The project to handle landslides and stabilize the slope behind Lao Cai Specialized High School, invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, is implemented on 0.3 hectares with many complex technical items such as reinforced concrete retaining wall system, prestressed ground anchors, roof protection beam frame, geotechnical mesh reinforced earth wall, surface and underground drainage ditches.

In recent days, taking advantage of favorable weather, the contractor has mobilized additional human resources, materials and equipment, and organized overtime to shorten construction time.
The investor representative, Mr. Phung Minh Quan - Deputy Head of Project 1, Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board said: "We have asked the contractor and the supervising consultant to work overtime and speed up the construction of key items. The goal is to basically complete the main items of the embankment by December 31 and by March 2026, complete the entire project according to the contract."
Local authorities closely follow the project
Along with the participation of the investor, the construction unit, the People's Committee of Cam Duong Ward and the local people have closely coordinated in supporting the site, creating conditions for vehicles and materials to enter and exit the construction site. The ward authorities also regularly monitor the progress, support in resolving arising problems, ensure security, order and safety around the construction area.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Nhan - Chairman of Cam Duong Ward People's Committee said: "These are projects directly related to people's safety, so we are determined to accompany investors and contractors, promptly remove difficulties in site clearance as well as construction organization."
With the efforts of the investor, the determination of the contractor and the support of the local government, the anti-erosion embankment projects in Cam Duong ward are being gradually accelerated, aiming to complete on schedule, ensuring quality and long-term sustainability.
