As a person born and raised in Ea Hiu, Mr. Y Mi Nie, Secretary of the Jat B village Party Cell, shared that the majority of Jat B villagers are Ede ethnic group. In the past, people all shared the same poverty, their lives mainly depended on single-crop rice fields, most of the stages were done by hand, low productivity, and low efficiency.
Since the government invested in the irrigation canal system, people have had enough water to grow two rice crops and reclaim and utilize the land on the banks and fallow land.
Next, following the movement of the Party Committee and the government, people actively donated land, opened internal roads, and brought mechanical vehicles to each field from land preparation to harvesting. People also worked hard to learn techniques, cultivated according to the crop calendar, and proactively and effectively controlled pests and diseases, so rice productivity increased day by day, reaching an average of 7-10 tons of fresh rice/ha.
Not only enough to eat, in recent years, high and stable rice prices have helped many people buy more land in neighboring areas to grow coffee and durian.
From nearly 50% of families being poor, now the village has only 5 poor households (accounting for 4.6%). The number of well-off households is increasing day by day, many families have built spacious houses, purchased many modern means and equipment. In 2024 alone, the whole village had nearly 10 new houses built with each house valued at 500 - 700 million VND.

In Ta Doq village, where nearly 100% of families are Bru - Van Kieu, thanks to the removal of bottlenecks in economic development, people's lives have also changed significantly every day. Mr. Ai Bon Cho, Head of Ta Doq village, said that the bottleneck comes from the fact that people have very little land for production, lack of jobs, but are timid and afraid to go far away to work. In early 2020, thanks to Party Committee and People's Committee officials coming to the village to understand the circumstances of each family, people were encouraged and suggested new directions to find jobs and increase income.
"In recent years, Ede and Bru-Van Kieu youth in Ea Hiu have actively learned about and participated in labor export. Many ethnic minority youth have had high incomes and opportunities to broaden their horizons and change their thinking when working abroad. This is the "sweet fruit" of mass mobilization work, originating from the persistent advocacy of the political system and the exemplary role of families of cadres and party members in changing their thinking and working methods." Thanks to being connected, supported and introduced to jobs, up to now, the whole village has had 4 young people participating in labor export to Japan; nearly 40 workers working for enterprises in and outside the province with high and stable income. Many other households have also actively learned science and technology, converted mixed gardens to grow durian combined with raising goats and cows, bringing high economic efficiency. Up to now, the income of people in Ta Doq village has reached over 50 million VND/person/year. The whole village has only 5 poor households (accounting for 3.2%) and 2 near-poor households (accounting for 1.3%).
Not only Jat B village or Ta Doq village, but all 11 villages and hamlets of the entire Ea Hiu commune have taken on a new look and new spirit, affirming the success of the efforts of the entire political system and the people.
If in the past, most of the traffic routes in the commune were narrow dirt roads, now the commune has spacious, clean concrete roads connecting the central area with the main traffic routes. Village roads and alleys have also been expanded by people's land donations, and the state has invested in hardening and concreted them from development investment capital sources and national target programs. The commune's irrigation canal system has ensured proactive irrigation for nearly 95% of the agricultural land area; the standard electricity system ensures regular and safe electricity supply for 95% of the population.
From a backward and poor economic area, up to now, Ea Hiu commune has recorded many highly effective economic models with 3 pig farms, 2 mushroom farms and intensive farming models, applying science and technology on rice, coffee, durian... In particular, in recent years, Ea Hiu commune has developed a model of raising swiftlets with 22 swiftlet houses worth billions of VND/model. In particular, Que Loan bird's nest product of Le Trong Que Business Household (Roang Dong hamlet) has achieved 3-star OCOP certification, participating in official export linkage to the Chinese market.

Most people of working age have jobs with the rate of trained workers reaching 70.5%. The whole commune no longer has temporary or dilapidated houses. People have full access to medical and telecommunications services. Children of school age are all able to go to school, ensuring their studies and entertainment. Cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities are vibrant; traditional cultural values of the Ede, Bru - Van Kieu ethnic communities are preserved and promoted. Security and national defense are ensured and stable.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Dung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that Ea Hiu commune has completed 19/19 new rural criteria, proudly turning a new page before the milestone of changes in administrative boundaries and names in the process of rearranging commune levels and building a two-level local government according to the Central's orientation. With changes from awareness to action, cadres, party members and all people of Ea Hiu commune will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, self-reliance, self-reliance, emulation to get rich, joining hands to build a more civilized, modern and unique homeland.
