Workers' Month 2025: The peak of caring for union members and workers

This is not only an occasion to show gratitude to workers but also to affirm the pioneering role of the working class in the new era - the era of national growth.

Every year, May is the peak month for organizing activities to care for the material and spiritual life of union members and employees; at the same time, it is also the meeting point and the time when workers and laborers receive more deep attention from unions at all levels and employers. This year, union members and laborers in Dak Lak province, in addition to receiving gifts in cash and funding to support the construction of "Union Shelters", also receive free health care, entertainment, cultural and sports exchanges...

As one of the workers who received gifts during this year's Workers' Month, Ms. Pham Thi Phien, a member of the Trade Union of Trung Nguyen Coffee Joint Stock Company, shared: "As a single mother and often sick, my family's life is quite difficult. Fortunately, over the years, with the support of the trade union and the company, there were times when I was sick and could not go to work, but I still had the expenses to take care of my health and living expenses. This year, I received a gift from the Provincial Federation of Labor. Although the amount is not large, it partly helps me have more money to buy medicine to have enough health to continue working."

For Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, a member of the Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development, receiving 50 million VND in support for building a house is a great joy and happiness. For many years, his family of 6 people had to squeeze into a small, dilapidated house that his parents built 40 years ago. This year, with support from the trade union, his family saved up and borrowed more money to build a house with an area of 60 square ^meters .

Or like the family of Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, a member of the Trade Union of Dinh Trung One Member Co., Ltd., the joy was overwhelming when the Buon Ma Thuot City Labor Federation handed over the "Union Shelter" house this May. It is known that Ms. Thuy has two children, one of whom has a congenital disease. Previously, she rented a house, so every time her husband and wife went to work, they had to lock the door and leave the child alone in the room. This year, with the support of 50 million VND from the trade union, her maternal family created conditions for the land, so she borrowed more to build a house next to her parents' house. Now, thanks to her grandparents taking care of their children, the couple has less daily worries.

Not only are gifts and shelters given, but also understanding that health is a "valuable asset", contributing significantly to improving labor productivity and the efficiency of production and business activities, trade unions at all levels also organize free medical examinations and tests for many workers in difficult circumstances. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Oanh (member of the Trade Union of Vina Trading Company, Tan An Industrial Park, Buon Ma Thuot City) shared that when she heard the company's Trade Union Executive Committee announce the free health examination and cancer screening program, she immediately registered because this is a very practical and meaningful activity, helping workers get their health checked without having to spend any additional costs.

According to Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Le Van Thanh, in response to Workers' Month 2025, in addition to organizing activities to support union members and workers in difficulty and healthy cultural, sports, entertainment programs..., the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed trade unions at all levels to proactively coordinate with the government, sectors, unions, and enterprises to organize the programs "Creative workers, confidently entering the new era", the program "Dialogue in May" and the Forum "Party with workers - Workers with the Party", the program "Thanking workers"; developing union members, establishing grassroots unions; introducing outstanding union members to develop party members who are workers; Program to propagate and raise awareness of union members and workers about the Party, trade unions, and the Vietnamese working class...

Along with that, mobilize union members to support funding for the construction and repair of 127 "Union Shelters" for union members with difficult housing circumstances with a budget of nearly 5.67 billion VND; organize visits and give gifts to 35,870 union members with difficult circumstances, serious illnesses, and work-related accidents with a budget of nearly 16 billion VND. In addition, the union also promotes cultural, artistic, and sports activities to contribute to improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers and civil servants...

It can be seen that, with the participation of functional agencies and trade union organizations, the care and improvement of the material and spiritual life of workers in units has been and is getting better and better. However, in reality, there is still a large number of workers whose lives are extremely difficult. Therefore, to gradually resolve this situation, the care and concern for union members and workers must not only be on holidays, New Year, and the annual Workers' Month, but must be regular, continuous and substantial every day.
