According to WCCF Tech , Qualcomm has big ambitions in the ARM laptop market, when planning to launch the new Snapdragon X chipset, targeting the low-cost segment of 600 USD, considered the 'territory' that Apple is dominating.

There is no official information about the specifications of this new Snapdragon X chipset. However, it is likely that it will be equipped with a 6-core CPU, accompanied by an NPU similar to other Snapdragon X variants. At a price of $ 600, laptops using the new Snapdragon X chipset will compete directly with Apple's MacBook Air M2, which is currently priced at around $ 799.
The biggest challenge for Qualcomm, however, is convincing software developers to create native apps for the Snapdragon platform, something Apple has done very well with its macOS app ecosystem on Apple Silicon.
Additionally, the use of a 6-core CPU may result in lower performance for the new Snapdragon X compared to other high-end chipsets. However, if Qualcomm can optimize performance and deliver an experience comparable to the Apple M1, it will still be a formidable competitor in the ARM laptop market.
Alongside this new chipset, Qualcomm is also developing a third-generation Oryon core for future Snapdragon X chipset systems, expected to launch in 2025. The new Oryon core is said to offer superior performance, full DX12 support, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
