Regarding the information about the coffee shop "covering all the electrical outlets" shared on social networks, the brand has not given an official response. However, social networks have erupted in controversy about customers buying a cup of coffee and then "staying rooted" in the shop all day.

Controversial debate

Some netizens believe that when a coffee shop opens its doors to customers, it must accept serving the needs of customers sitting and working. However, there are also many opinions that oppose the fact that customers only buy a glass of water, then sit for many hours, which will greatly affect the business and trade of the shop.

Sharing her perspective on this issue, user Hoai Thu commented: "Selling a cup of coffee, the electricity bill is not enough to keep up with the constant customers. If there is no profit, it is better to close the shop than to waste time selling without enough electricity. Why bother selling!"

"Order a cup of water and sit there from morning until night, enjoy the air conditioning, have a restroom, plug in all kinds of chargers...", nicknamed Nguyen Duc agreed. An account claiming to be the owner of a coffee shop also left a comment full of disappointment: "At my shop, customers sit and charge their laptops and then charge two phones. Pour tea from morning until noon but only buy a cup of coffee for 23,000 VND".

Different from the above opinions, Thanh Quyen account expressed: "If people go to a coffee shop just to drink coffee, why would they spend 50,000 VND to drink there?" "It's normal for customers to sit for a long time. Those who sit for 30 minutes or buy takeaway will compensate these people," Nguyen Ti account said.

As a freelancer working in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Trong Nghia (25 years old) said that he is a "shameless" customer of many coffee shops in District 1 and District 3. According to him, instead of working at home, he will go to the coffee shop to get inspiration to work as well as to avoid the heat in Ho Chi Minh City.

That's why he often sits at the shop from morning to evening, depending on the volume and inspiration of work. The young man also shared that there, he can freely use services such as air conditioning, restrooms, power outlets and free water.

"I think spending 60,000 - 70,000 VND for a glass of water is normal, so staying at the shop for a long time is normal. However, if I stay until the evening, I usually buy more water and cakes, so it's less awkward," he added.

Dung Le (26 years old) does not often go to coffee shops to work, but mostly goes there to meet friends. She thinks that it is not good for customers to buy a drink and then "set up shop".

"People open their shops to do business. Staying in one place like that without buying anything is a pity for the shop. We should also visit each other, sympathize and share with each other a little. If I stay at the shop for a long time, I will also buy a drink or a cake," the girl shared.

Coffee shop owner's point of view

Sharing with Thanh Nien , the owner of a famous coffee shop in Phu Nhuan District said that since opening, he has often welcomed many customers sitting at the shop from morning to afternoon. However, he said that most of these customers are very nice, always buying more food and drinks if they stay for a long time.

"Of course, it's inevitable that there will be many customers who buy the cheapest cup of coffee in the shop and then stay there from morning to afternoon. But luckily, there aren't many customers like this at my shop. If they stay, I'll still serve them attentively and give them free refills," the owner shared.

He added that many of his friends who run coffee shops like him often have "headaches" because of these customers. According to him, there are some shops where the staff will gently remind customers if they stay in the shop for too long by asking questions like: "You've been in the shop for a long time, do you need to order more drinks?"

Some restaurants say that no matter how long the customer stays, they will try to provide the best service.

To reduce the situation of customers buying a drink and sitting from morning to night without ordering anything else, another coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City has a time regulation, according to which, if a customer sits for more than 4 hours, they must order more drinks. The staff at this shop is the one who proactively reminds customers in a tactful way.

Meanwhile, some netizens "tipped off" the shop owner about limiting the time for wifi usage, and charging extra for charging if customers stay longer than the specified time...
