The Department of Internal Affairs of An Giang province conducted a field survey in Cu Lao Gieng commune.

On December 12th, Mr. Truong Long Ho, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Affairs of An Giang province, along with a delegation, conducted a field survey and reassessed the criteria to finalize the application for recognizing Cu Lao Gieng commune (An Giang province) as an island commune.

After conducting a field survey in Cu Lao Gieng commune, the working group met with the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune to reassess the criteria according to regulations.

Cu Lao Gieng commune is located in isolation in the middle of the Tien River, with infrastructure and production conditions characteristic of an island administrative unit according to Decision No. 40/2025/QD-TTg, dated October 31, 2025, of the Prime Minister . The commune has met the criteria for a natural area of ​​68.92 ^km² , with a permanent population of 16,186 households and 70,544 people as of August 31, 2025…

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Affairs of An Giang province, Truong Long Ho, agreed that Cu Lao Gieng commune had met the criteria to be recognized as an island commune and requested the commune's People's Committee to promptly complete the procedures and documents to submit to the competent authority for consideration and decision on recognition.

Being recognized as an island commune will enable Cu Lao Gieng to receive more support policies for its residents, officials, and employees working in the commune in the future.
