After attending the 148th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Switzerland, a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly led by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, paid a working visit to Poland from March 27 to 30.
This is also an activity to prepare for the event marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland (1950-2025).
During three official working days, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly , Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong had bilateral meetings and talks with Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Krzysztof Bosak; Vice Chairman of the Senate Michal Kaminski; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski.
At the receptions, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong expressed his joy at visiting the beautiful country of Poland and thanked the Polish side for the warm welcome given to the delegation.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong said that political and diplomatic relations between the two countries are developing well; economic and trade cooperation continues to be maintained. Vietnam is Poland's largest trade partner in Southeast Asia and Poland is Vietnam's priority partner in Central and Eastern Europe.
Vice President Tran Quang Phuong affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the good traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Poland.
The Vice President suggested that in the coming time, the two sides continue to increase contacts, especially maintaining exchanges of high-level delegations of leaders of the National Assembly as well as agencies of the National Assembly, friendship parliamentarians' groups, coordinating to supervise and promote the effective implementation of cooperation agreements between the Governments, ministries, branches and localities of the two countries.
Regarding cooperation between the two legislative bodies, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong said that over the past time, the relationship between the two parliaments has continuously developed.
The 15th National Assembly of Vietnam established the Vietnam - Poland Friendship Parliamentarians' Group chaired by Chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee Le Thi Nga.
On the Polish side, the Poland-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group has been established in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
In addition to cooperation between the two legislative bodies, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong proposed that Poland soon ratify the Vietnam - European Union Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); urge the European Commission (EC) to remove the "yellow card" (IUU) for Vietnamese seafood products; and continue to promote the implementation of signed agreements between the two countries.
Besides, maintain contact, consultation, coordination and mutual support at multilateral parliamentary forums as well as on regional and world issues of mutual concern.
In addition, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong also suggested that the two countries consider the possibility of resuming flights between Poland and Vietnam to promote tourism and trade between the two countries.
For their part, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Krzysztof Bosak and Deputy Speaker of the Senate Michal Kaminski affirmed that the exchange of delegations between the two parliaments contributes to strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Sharing the opinions of the Vietnamese side, representatives of the Polish House of Representatives and Senate expressed their desire to cooperate with the Vietnamese National Assembly, contributing to promoting cooperation between the two countries.
Leaders of the Polish Parliament highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Poland, affirming that the Vietnamese community is industrious, hardworking, united and always a solid bridge for the relationship between the two countries.
Along with the above contributions, the Vietnamese community also has a high reputation in the host country, leaving a good image in Polish society. Currently, the relationship between the Polish people and the Vietnamese community is very good, the Polish people have a very friendly attitude towards the Vietnamese community.
Meanwhile, at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong affirmed that science and innovation is a potential area of cooperation between Vietnam and Poland, and the two countries need to promote cooperation in this field in the coming time.
Vietnam is ready to further expand cooperation to enhance learning about science, technology and research in Poland.
For his part, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski said that the Polish Government has a policy of developing digitalization in three directions: Developing technology to ensure digital security; Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing.
Poland's ambition is to lead Europe in this field and is ready to invite Vietnam to cooperate. Some Polish digital corporations want to introduce digital products to Vietnam, helping the country develop digital technology.
Also within the framework of the visit, the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation met with the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group, received the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Association, paid a working visit to the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Poland, and visited the Vietnam Military Affairs Office in Poland.
At the receptions, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong affirmed that the Vietnamese community abroad is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.
Therefore, this is not only a meeting with the Embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Poland, but more importantly, this is a very special "voter contact" far from the homeland of National Assembly deputies.
More than 10 opinions of representatives of Vietnamese associations and delegations were answered by National Assembly delegates.
Many issues such as applying for Vietnamese nationality; adjusting living expenses and policies for diplomatic staff abroad; economic and business-related issues; increasing the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students; teaching Vietnamese, preserving and promoting Vietnamese culture in Poland... were mentioned.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong noted the opinions of overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese community to forward to domestic agencies for resolution, and discussed related issues in working sessions with Poland during this working trip.
The Vietnamese community in Poland currently has about 35,000 people. Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong suggested that Poland continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Poland to stabilize their lives and contribute more to the socio-economic development of Poland as well as the good traditional friendship between the two peoples.
On the Polish side, both the Polish Parliament and Government pledged to continue creating conditions for the Vietnamese community to live stably, permanently and legally in Poland, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
