At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized the importance of the French President's visit to Vietnam, taking place in the context of the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, upgraded in October 2024, developing strongly and extensively in all fields.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man assessed that the economic , trade and investment relations between Vietnam and France have achieved impressive results, becoming an important pillar in the bilateral relationship; France is Vietnam's third largest trade partner and the second largest investor in the EU with 723 investment projects in Vietnam, however, the two countries still have a lot of potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and investment; suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in areas such as green economy, digital, high technology, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, smart cities, agriculture, local cooperation, tripartite cooperation, etc.

The French President expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the National Assembly Chairman and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam; congratulated Vietnam on its development achievements and hoped that this visit would open up new directions for cooperation in the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in the fields of strategic infrastructure, new energy, transportation, logistics, etc.

Responding to the proposal of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, President Macron said he would direct relevant agencies to promptly complete procedures to ratify the Investment Protection Agreement between the European Union and Vietnam (EVIPA); highly appreciate Vietnam's efforts in overcoming the IUU yellow card and will discuss with the EC about considering early removal of the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides highly appreciated the close relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the French Parliament, which has actively contributed to strengthening the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; agreed to maintain delegation exchanges, especially between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the French Parliament, and between the Vietnam-France Friendship Parliamentary Groups, an important bridge in promoting mutual understanding and sharing legislative experience; and to strengthen close coordination at forums such as the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), within the framework of Francophone Parliamentary cooperation, etc.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the results of exchanges between the two legislative bodies in 2024, especially meetings between leaders of the Vietnamese National Assembly and French parliamentarians, focusing on issues such as institutional reform, green transformation and digital economic development.
President Macron highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in France for its positive contributions to the country and the relationship between the two countries, including parliamentarians of Vietnamese origin; and agreed with President Tran Thanh Man's proposal to continue creating favorable conditions for the community to successfully integrate in France.
On international and regional issues, President Macron appreciated the central role of ASEAN and Vietnam's position in France's Indo-Pacific strategy.
Regarding the East Sea issue, President Macron affirmed that France is determined to protect freedom, safety of navigation, and sovereignty of nations based on international law. The two sides stressed the importance of resolving disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), contributing to ensuring peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed his regards and invitation to visit Vietnam to the President of the Senate and the President of the French National Assembly. President Macron respectfully invited National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to attend the Francophone Inter-Parliamentary Forum (APF) to take place in France in July 2025.
