Quang Ngai prepares dozens of resettlement areas to serve high-speed railway

In addition to reviewing and putting old resettlement areas into use, Quang Ngai plans to build dozens more resettlement areas to serve the North-South high-speed railway project passing through the province.

The leader of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction said that the unit has organized a meeting with departments, branches and leaders of 17 communes and wards where the North-South high-speed railway is expected to pass through, to survey, select locations, plan and invest in the construction of resettlement areas to serve the site clearance work.

Accordingly, localities have provided preliminary information on the current status of residential areas where the project route passes through, and introduced a number of locations planned for resettlement area arrangement and investment.

The total land use area of the project through Quang Ngai is more than 561 hectares, most of which is agricultural land.

After reviewing 23 resettlement areas and 17 grave reburial areas serving the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, there are currently 1,505 vacant plots of land and 2,759 vacant graves, which are eligible for the project. In addition, the localities assigned to manage the resettlement and reburial areas serving the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway are also urgently reviewing the remaining plots that can be arranged.

Quang Ngai plans to build dozens of new resettlement and burial areas along the upcoming high-speed railway. The number, location and scale of each area will be determined by the locality after coordinating and working with the Railway Project Management Board and relevant units under the Ministry of Construction to locally adjust some locations and stations on the route.

Quang Ngai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board will be the investor of the Sub-project of compensation, site clearance and resettlement to serve the project.

Mr. Pham Viet Ha, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction, said that the localities in the project area have proactively and urgently reviewed the total number of affected households that must be relocated and resettled; as well as coordinated to survey the construction sites of resettlement areas, in which priority is given to selecting locations that are suitable with related planning.
