Quang Ngai recognizes Cuban medical experts' contributions to maternal and child health care

According to Quang Ngai Newspaper, speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Jesús de los Santos Reno Céspedes, Head of the Cuban medical expert delegation in Vietnam, affirmed that the cooperation between the two countries in the medical field not only has professional value, but is also a vivid symbol of the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

From 2021 to present, Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has received three Cuban medical experts: Dr. Nela (intensive care specialist), Dr. Omar (neonatal specialist) and Dr. Jorge Luis Diaz Puebla (obstetrics specialist). Of which, Dr. Jorge Luis is the one who has been with us the longest and has made many outstanding contributions. Dr. Jorge Luis has successfully performed many difficult surgeries such as large uterine fibroids, abruptio placentae, central placenta previa, as well as transferred laparoscopic pelvic organ surgery techniques, laparoscopic hysterectomy with internal suture and updated professional knowledge for the Vietnamese medical team.

In recognition of Dr. Jorge Luis' efforts and dedication in providing professional support, training and technology transfer to the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in the period of 2021-2025, the Director of the Department of Health of Quang Ngai province awarded him a Certificate of Merit.

Medical cooperation with Cuba is implemented on the basis of Decision No. 549/QD-UBND dated September 14, 2020 of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, approving the Project to hire Cuban experts to support medical examination and treatment, training and technology transfer for the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital in the period of 2021 - 2025.

Over the past 5 years, overcoming geographical distance, language barriers and cultural differences, Cuban experts have always demonstrated a sense of responsibility, high professional qualifications and dedication to their work, contributing to improving the quality of local healthcare, especially in the field of maternal and child health care.
