On January 4, 2025, Kinh te & Do thi reporters recorded dozens of degraded points from km308 to km321 of National Highway 14C passing through Dak Mil district ( Dak Nong province).

From km308 to km321, the road is severely damaged, so at night or when it rains, it is dangerous for people and vehicles.

The road surface is very bad

From km308 to km317, on average, about 1.3 billion VND has been invested in each km for repairs. However, according to the overall record, the quality of the road section has not improved much, the road surface still has countless degraded spots.

Risk of wasting budget

National Highway 14C is 566km long, running through the provinces of Kon Tum , Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc and is considered an important national highway, in addition to serving the socio-economic development goals of the localities, it also ensures security and national defense in the region.

In recent years, hundreds of billions of dong have been allocated annually for maintenance and repair along National Highway 14C, through publicly bid packages by local authorities. The section passing through Dak Nong province alone has tens of billions of dong in funding each year.

Specifically, in 2024, Dak Nong was invested 56 billion VND, of which only the section from km308 to km317 (9km in length) through Dak Mil district was invested more than 12 billion VND for repair. The project was just completed and handed over at the end of 2024. However, looking at the overall short road with billions of investment, it is still like "a shirt full of patches and adjacent, intertwined holes".

This shows that National Highway 14C section through Dak Nong - although the annual maintenance and repair costs are quite large, the efficiency is not high.
