On January 4, 2025, Kinh te & Do thi reporters recorded dozens of degraded points from km308 to km321 of National Highway 14C passing through Dak Mil district ( Dak Nong province).

Risk of wasting budget
National Highway 14C is 566km long, running through the provinces of Kon Tum , Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc and is considered an important national highway, in addition to serving the socio-economic development goals of the localities, it also ensures security and national defense in the region.
In recent years, hundreds of billions of dong have been allocated annually for maintenance and repair along National Highway 14C, through publicly bid packages by local authorities. The section through Dak Nong province alone has tens of billions of dong in funding each year.
Specifically, in 2024, Dak Nong received an investment of 56 billion VND, of which more than 12 billion VND was invested in the section from km308 to km317 (9km long) through Dak Mil district for repair. The project was just completed and handed over at the end of 2024. However, looking at the overall short road with billions of VND invested, it is still like "a shirt full of patches and adjacent, intertwined holes".
This shows that National Highway 14C through Dak Nong - although the annual maintenance and repair costs are quite large, the efficiency is not high.
