At the end of September, at Tan Hung Medical Station, Da Phuc Commune coordinated with a number of hospitals, clinics, and agencies under the Hanoi Department of Health to organize a program to examine, provide health consultation, and provide free medicine for people aged 70 and over. Upon receiving the invitation to participate in the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan (over 70 years old this year), residing in Ngo Dao Village (Da Phuc Commune) was very excited. She got up early and asked her daughter to take her to Tan Hung Medical Station to wait for her turn for a health check. “I am over 70 years old this year, but this is the first time I have been examined by so many specialists at the same time. I feel very happy, especially when the doctor said my health is still good, only my eyes are a little weak…” - Ms. Loan happily said.

Mr. Dang Duc Them, residing in Duc Hoa village (Da Phuc commune), is nearly 80 years old this year. He said that he goes for a health check-up every 6 months. This time, doctors from Hanoi came to visit him, and he was very happy. “I have great confidence in the quality of the doctors’ consultation because not only did we receive a thorough medical examination, but the organizers also arranged a lot of modern equipment to examine us…” - Mr. Them said.

Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1942), residing in Duc Hoa village, also participated in the program in the first round held in August 2025. She shared that the program has many specialized doctors from major hospitals, so people feel very secure when coming for a check-up. "Just being cared for and examined like this once is very precious" - Ms. Thuy shared. At the check-ups, all the elderly men and women were very excited to receive the attention of the Party Committee, the government of Da Phuc commune and the team of highly qualified doctors. At the same time, she hopes that the commune will maintain the annual free health check-up program to help people, especially the elderly, detect health problems early and promptly treat them.

Ms. Loan and Mr. Them are the cases that have been examined, consulted, and given free medicine in phase 3 of the program of examination, health consultation, and free medicine for people aged 70 and over in Da Phuc commune. Previously, after two phases were organized, more than 2,100 people aged 70 and over were examined, consulted, and given free medicine.

At the end of phase 3, nearly 3,100 more people aged 70 and over in Da Phuc commune received health check-ups, consultations and free medicine. Thereby, 100% of people aged 70 and over (equivalent to more than 5,200 cases) have had access to the commune's humane policies.

According to Head of Da Phuc Commune Health Station Nguyen Thi Hue, the content of the program for health examination, consultation and free medicine for people aged 70 and over in the commune includes: blood pressure measurement; internal examination; specialized examination of eyes, ears, nose and throat, teeth and jaws; abdominal ultrasound; electrocardiogram and medicine.

“The examination is to initially assess the overall health of the elderly. For simple illnesses, we will provide free medicine for treatment at home. For more complicated illnesses that require in-depth analysis, doctors will advise people on appropriate treatment…” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue added.

In particular, the health examination results are updated to the electronic health record software system, helping health information of people aged 70 and over to be communicated between levels. This creates favorable conditions for doctors to diagnose and treat diseases accurately, comprehensively, continuously and effectively. Along with health examination and consultation, Mrs. Loan, Mr. Them, Mrs. Thuy and many elderly men and women in the hamlets of Da Phuc commune are also given free medicine to treat simple diseases and improve their health. This makes the elderly men and women feel more happy because they are cared for and looked after carefully.

Contributing to the success of the Health Examination, Consultation and Free Medicine Program for People aged 70 and over in Da Phuc commune in recent times, it is impossible not to mention the participation, companionship and support in both human and material resources of agencies and units in the health sector from the Central level to Hanoi.

The recent 3 medical examinations for people in Da Phuc commune had the participation of hundreds of doctors and medical staff from upper-level hospitals such as: Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital, Hong Ngoc Hospital, Hanoi Capital Command, Phuong Dong General Hospital, Hanoi Eye Hospital, 103 Quoc Oai General Clinic and hospitals under the Hanoi Department of Health.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Da Phuc Commune, Nguyen Hong Minh, emphasized that the work of taking care of community health, especially for the elderly, has always received special attention from the Party and the State. This is not only a responsibility but also a deep gratitude of today's generation.

With the desire to improve the quality of life and show the local government's concern for the elderly, Da Phuc commune has developed a plan to implement and has so far successfully organized a program to examine, provide health consultation and provide free medicine for people aged 70 and over.

Also according to Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Phuc Commune Nguyen Hong Minh, the local Party Committee and government always fully and deeply understand the role and especially important position of protecting, caring for and improving people's health, considering this as one of the political tasks to contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of the local socio-economy.
