So are my parents required to switch to paying family health insurance at the Cau Giay Social Insurance facility? If my parents continue to pay family health insurance at the Ba Dinh facility, can they transfer the initial medical examination and treatment (KCB) place to a polyclinic in an area outside of Ba Dinh district (old)? - Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi ).

According to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 7 of Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BYT dated January 1, 2025 detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance, health insurance participants are eligible to choose one of the health insurance medical facilities at the initial health insurance level near their place of residence, work, study and suitable to the capacity of the health insurance facility to register for initial health insurance medical treatment.

Also according to Clause 6, Article 7, Health Insurance participants are allowed to change the place of initial health insurance registration within the first 15 days of each quarter to suit their place of residence, work or study.

Thus, if your parents move to permanent residence in Cau Giay ward, they can transfer the initial medical examination and treatment registration place to the primary medical facilities near their permanent residence for convenience in medical examination and treatment.

Although there is currently no regulation requiring family health insurance participants to change their place of health insurance payment when changing their place of residence, in order to register for initial medical examination and treatment at appropriate medical facilities under the management area of ​​the Social Insurance agency when your parents' current family health insurance card expires, you can apply for a renewal of your parents' family health insurance participation at the Cau Giay Social Insurance agency to facilitate the initial medical examination and treatment registration.

You can renew your parents' health insurance card directly at the Social Insurance agency or online on the National Public Service Portal at https://dichvucong.gov.vn/ or renew health insurance through some banking apps (this method will not apply the reduction of the health insurance contribution level per household).
