A series of key infrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring areas
Last week, a series of important transport infrastructure planning information was announced, focusing mainly on Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces in the Southern Key Economic Zone. Notable projects include the proposal for the Ben Thanh - Can Gio urban railway with a total capital of more than 3 billion USD, the plan to deploy Belt Road 4 through Tay Ninh, and the plan to build 8 new bridges connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai.
Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro line: Investment rate of more than 1,600 billion VND/km
According to the proposal from VinSpeed High-speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, the Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway project has a length of 52.92 km, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio district. The route is expected to pass through the wards of Ben Thanh, Xom Chieu, Tan Thuan, Tan My and the communes of Nha Be, Binh Khanh, An Thoi Dong, Can Tho.

The total estimated investment of the project is VND85,650 billion (equivalent to more than USD3 billion), of which construction costs account for more than VND37,000 billion. With this length and total capital, the estimated investment rate for each kilometer of railway is more than VND1,600 billion.
Ho Chi Minh City sets start date for Ben Thanh - Tham Luong metro project
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a plan to deploy Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong). The project has a total length of more than 11 km, including 9 km underground and nearly 2 km above ground, with 10 stations. According to the plan, preparations will be carried out in November and December 2025, with the entire line expected to start construction on January 15, 2026 and start construction simultaneously from January 16, 2026.
Beltway 4 through Tay Ninh : Nearly 1 billion USD for site clearance and service roads
The Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board has announced the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the compensation, support, resettlement and construction of the service road component project of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 through Tay Ninh province. This section is approximately 74.5 km long.

The starting point of the project is at Thay Cai canal (border of Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City) and the end point is at Tan Lap commune (border of Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City). The total investment for this item is 24,972 billion VND, expected to be constructed from the second quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2028.
8 new bridges connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai
To enhance regional traffic connectivity, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province have agreed to invest in 8 road bridge projects. The list of bridges includes: Cat Lai, Long Hung (Dong Nai 2 bridge), Phu My 2, Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An and Xom La.

Among these, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province will be the managing agency to implement the Cat Lai and Long Hung bridge projects. The Departments of Construction of the two localities have also agreed on the route and investment scale for the projects.
Other important infrastructure projects
Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway adjusted to increase capital by nearly 800 billion VND
The Ministry of Construction has approved adjustments to the Component 2 project of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Phase 1, increasing the total investment by nearly VND770 billion. After the adjustment, the total investment of this component project is more than VND7,600 billion, compared to the level of more than VND6,800 billion according to the previous decision of the Ministry of Transport.

Add a unit to Binh Goi bridge on Ring Road 3
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved the proposal of the Department of Construction to invest in adding a unit to the Saigon River overpass (Binh Goi Bridge) under Project 5 of Ring Road 3, passing through Binh Duong province. The new unit will have a width of 19.75 m, equivalent to the existing bridge. This addition is to ensure the operation of 4 expressway lanes (with 2 emergency lanes) and 4 parallel lanes.

Nearly 400 million USD to expand three national highways in the Mekong Delta
The Vietnam Road Administration has announced the EIA report for the project to renovate and expand three national highways 53, 62 and 91B to connect regions and adapt to climate change in the Mekong Delta. The project will be implemented in four provinces/cities: Tay Ninh, Vinh Long, Ca Mau and Can Tho City. The total investment is nearly VND9,300 billion (nearly USD400 million).
Hung Yen proposes to build a road connecting National Highway 10 - Diem Dien Port according to expressway standards
The leaders of Hung Yen province have reviewed the report on the DT 468 route, from the intersection of National Highway 10 to Diem Dien port (Thai Binh). The province has assigned the Department of Construction to study the plan to build this route according to expressway standards, in sync with the Dong Tu intersection and the Thai Binh - Ha Nam road expansion project, to promote the development of Diem Dien port.
