Born in 1925 in Tien Giang , Doan Gioi is one of the pioneer writers who reflects truthfully, emotionally and poetically about the nature, people and history of the South. Through his works, he has contributed to Vietnamese literature a unique voice: Simple but profound, full of memoir but also full of talent.

The eight works republished this time are outstanding works that have contributed to shaping the literary style of writer Doan Gioi. They are “Southern Forest Land”, “The Search for the Arsenal”, “The Old Sailor on the Exiled Island”, “Rhino in the Green Forest”, “Strange Stories About Fish”, “Rustling Night Forest”, “Grouper”, “Sunflowers”.
The book series is not only a gift of gratitude to writer Doan Gioi but also an invitation for readers to explore the endless beauty of the Southern land through the pen of the poet of nature - writer Doan Gioi.
On this occasion, Kim Dong Publishing House organizes a series of meaningful activities to honor the life and career of writer Doan Gioi.

Specifically, on May 17, at Kim Dong Publishing House (55 Quang Trung, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi ), there was an interactive book reading session "The Beauty of the Southern Forest Land", an exchange with writer Lu Mai and sharing of feelings from young readers.
On May 16, Kim Dong Publishing House organized a program to visit the hometown of writer Doan Gioi - exchange and give books at Doan Gioi Secondary School (Tien Giang province).

Deputy Director - Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House Vu Thi Quynh Lien shared, “Dat rung phuong Nam” is one of the first works published by Kim Dong Publishing House in the first year of its establishment, 1957. Over the past nearly 70 years, “Dat rung phuong Nam” has been reprinted many times and is loved by many generations of readers.
The 100th anniversary of the birth of writer Doan Gioi is an occasion to honor a great author, and also an opportunity to re-read and spread the literary value of Doan Gioi to young readers today.
