Forbes magazine recently announced the list of highest-paid athletes in global sports in 2025.
With $275 million, Ronaldo has topped this list for the third consecutive year. This is also the fifth time in his career that Ronaldo has topped the sports world in terms of annual earnings.
Compared to last year, the Portuguese superstar increased his income by $15 million, through off-field sponsorship deals. This is considered the result of his large social media following, totaling 939 million as of May.
Meanwhile, American basketball star Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors rose to second place in the rankings with 156 million USD.
The gap between Ronaldo and the second-placed player further shows Ronaldo's dominance in terms of earning money.
Boxer Tyson Fury took third place with $146 million.
Despite losing his world heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk last December, Fury's earnings have been boosted by his Malta tourism endorsements, as well as his Netflix reality show.
Football also has a face in the top group, that is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. He is in fourth place with $137 million.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi dropped to fifth place with $135 million, the same as last year. The majority of Messi's income comes from his salary at Inter Miami, and contracts with Adidas and Apple.
Los Angeles Lakers basketball star LeBron James holds the sixth spot with $133.8 million. But this could be the American superstar's last year on the list as he plans to retire at age 40.
Another soccer star in the top 10 is French striker Karim Benzema. He ranked eighth with $104 million in earnings last year, mostly from his salary at Al Ittihad.
