Speaking to reporters via video call at the Global Tourism and Investment Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo said: "For me, soon means 10 years from now... No, I'm kidding. I'm really enjoying the moment.
I feel very good at the moment. I score goals, I'm still quick and sharp. I'm also enjoying playing for the Portuguese national team. But of course I'm honest and admit that I will retire soon. I mean soon, maybe in a year or two."
Portugal are closing in on a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, with Ronaldo insisting the tournament will be his last performance on the biggest football stage on the planet.
He admitted: "I will be 41 years old at the 2026 World Cup. I have been involved in football for the past 25 years. I have done everything, I have many records in many different contexts at clubs and also the national team.
I'm really proud. So enjoy this moment, live every moment to the fullest."
Ronaldo is one of the best players in football history. But can his son, Cristiano Jr., follow in his father's footsteps and become great? Answering this question, CR7 admitted: "As humans, we always don't want anyone to be better than us. But I wish my son would be better than me. I will never be jealous of my son.
But what I want is for my child to be happy. It doesn't matter if he wants to play football or any other sport . Just be happy, be free. Don't let your father pressure you because it's too much.
This is a new generation, a different generation. They think differently, they live differently. But as a father, I am here to help my son become whatever he wants to be. I will be there for him."
