Still worries after the flood

The family did not have stable jobs, so the parents of Pham Tien Thuat, a 6th grader, borrowed money to invest in a ferry terminal, but the recent flood caused all of Thuat's parents' efforts to go to waste. The ferry terminal was eroded and lost.

Little Tien Thuat was dark, skinny, and timid, hiding behind his mother. But when talking about his feelings about receiving the scholarship, Thuat confidently confided: "I will send money to my mother to buy a boat to continue carrying passengers, helping people cross the river every day."

Teacher Nguyen Thi Lan, Dan Phuong Secondary School, Ha Hoa, is still haunted by the recent historic storm. Her family lives in Yen Bai , and every day she drives 15km to Ha Hoa to attend class with her students.

The storm swept through, Yen Bai province was heavily flooded, and suffered serious landslides due to the storm's impact. That day, the teacher and students lost contact because the electricity and signal were cut off.

Ms. Lan's family lives at the foot of the hill, so the whole school, from the students to the principal, is worried about her, and she is worried about the students.

"My house is at the foot of the hill, so at night my husband and I can't sleep, I'm still haunted by fear. We were evacuated to a safe place, but I'm worried about the students because I can't contact them.

Luckily, when I was informed that the children were all safe, I was less worried. It's good that the house was flooded but the people were fine" - Ms. Lan was touched when receiving the support package, and at the same time expressed her desire to join hands to protect the forest and plant more trees to reduce the devastation caused by natural disasters.

Nguyen Ha Mi (class 9A, Chue Luu Secondary School, Ha Hoa) was moved, wiping away tears and said: "I will use this money for my parents to buy things for the family because my house was swept away by the flood, now my family is homeless. My parents make bricks, all the machinery and equipment were swept away. The flood suddenly came at night and my whole family had to hide in a brick kiln, the thatched house was swept away by the water that same night.

Luckily my books were thrown into the brick kiln so they didn't float away. I'm very sad because my family no longer has a house. I just want to build a house for my parents. The money will help my parents buy the necessary things first...".
