Winter-Spring rice output 2024-2025 reaches nearly 1.65 million tons

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, up to now, farmers in the province have completely harvested the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop, with an area of 242,900/225,900 hectares, reaching 107.5% of the whole crop sowing plan, the dry rice yield is estimated at 67.9 quintals/ha (1.85 quintals/ha higher than the same period in 2024), the output is estimated at nearly 1.65 million tons.

Last week, the price of fresh rice was stable, except for IR50404 rice, which decreased by 400 VND/kg. Specifically, IR4625 sticky rice was from 7,400-7,600 VND/kg, IR50404 rice was from 5,600-5,700 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 was from 6,700-7,000 VND/kg, and OM 18 was from 6,700-7,000 VND/kg.

Farmers take care of the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop

For the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop, to date, farmers have sown 190,900/217,300 hectares, reaching 87.9% of the plan, equal to 177% compared to the same period in 2024.

Pests on Summer-Autumn rice 2025 increased in infected area, of which, the most increased were leaf blast, golden apple snail, thrips and stem borers, causing damage to rice at the seedling, tillering and panicle stages. In particular, brown planthoppers decreased in infected area on rice at the tillering stage.

Specifically, rice blast disease (534ha), golden apple snail (533ha), rats (200ha), brown planthoppers (180ha), stem borers (70ha), thrips (60ha), alum poisoning (15ha),... caused damage to rice fields at the seedling, tillering, and panicle stages, concentrated in Tan Hung, Moc Hoa, Duc Hue, Thanh Hoa, Duc Hoa, Tan Tru districts and Tan An city.

It is forecasted that adult brown planthoppers will appear sporadically; golden apple snails, thrips, rats, etc. will increase the infected area on Summer-Autumn rice at the seedling stage; rice blast disease, small leaf rollers, stem borers, brown planthoppers, etc. will increase the infected area on rice at the tillering and panicle stages./.
