Impressive growth

Industrial production activities of Phu Tho province in the first quarter of 2025 recorded a clear recovery momentum with the industrial production index (IIP) estimated to increase by 47.3% over the same period last year. In general, stable production, large-scale enterprises, and effective key projects are the main factors driving growth of the entire industrial sector. Along with that, the drastic implementation of synchronous solutions to support production, promote domestic consumption and export, industrial production continued to grow rapidly, becoming a bright spot in the overall economic picture.

The processing and manufacturing industry is the key industry, determining the scale and growth rate of the industrial sector. The IIP of the processing and manufacturing industry in the first quarter increased compared to the same period, in which many key industries recorded strong growth. Specifically, the production of drugs, pharmaceutical chemicals and medicinal materials increased by 72.4%; the production of electronic products, computers and optical products increased by 70.5%; wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo and rattan increased by 41.5%; repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 23.8%; the production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 22.7%; the production of leather and related products increased by 21.3%...

Some major industrial products have increased output compared to the same period, such as: Laptops are estimated at nearly 6 million products, up 108.1%; superphosphate fertilizer is estimated at over 136,000 tons, up 41%; sports shoes are estimated at nearly 1.3 million pairs, up 21.3%; NPK fertilizer is estimated at 142,000 tons, up 14%; cement is estimated at 248,800 tons, up 8.6%; ready-made clothes are estimated at 25.4 million products, up 1%... Many other positive factors also contributed significantly to the growth of the industry, such as textile and footwear enterprises having stable orders thanks to the recovery of the consumer market; electronics enterprises increasing output thanks to large export orders. In addition, the expansion of production and increased investment, the participation of new large-scale enterprises also create more momentum to promote the development of the whole industry.

On the business side, to boost production and product consumption, businesses in the province have closely followed market developments and synchronously implemented many solutions to promote production such as expanding consumption markets, diversifying industries and products.

Particularly, as an auxiliary product for other production sectors serving packaging needs, the paper and packaging industry has shown positive signs when the activities of many industries have improved. Viet Tri Paper Joint Stock Company (Viet Tri city) specializes in producing packaging paper, with current production output reaching over 500 tons of paper/day.

Mr. Tran Van Manh - Head of the Company's Administrative Organization Department said: "In 2025, our Company sets a revenue target of 1,800 billion VND. Along with in-depth technology investment and improving product quality, the Company focuses on expanding the consumption market, maintaining two good consumption channels, both selling directly to packaging manufacturers with large and stable consumption output and selling to traders with distribution capacity, expanding the market. Hopefully, the positive results in the first quarter will create a premise to promote production and business for the whole year".

Phu Tho province's industry recorded positive results in the first quarter, but to maintain growth momentum and make important contributions to the province's economic growth target of 8% or more in 2025, businesses need to continue to seize opportunities and respond flexibly to market challenges, while also needing the support of all levels and sectors.

Accompanying businesses

From now until the end of the year, in addition to favorable conditions, the world economic and political context has many complex fluctuations, the risk of trade war is increasing, which is greatly affecting global economic growth. In particular, the US import tax policy has been and is changing, which can put pressure on the global supply chain, affecting costs and investment plans, especially for key export industries such as electronics, textiles, footwear, wood, etc. In that situation, closely monitoring the international market, promptly adjusting production strategies, and proactively expanding markets are key factors for businesses to develop and gradually improve their capacity to participate in the global value chain.

Viet Phap Aluminum Joint Stock Company (Trung Ha Industrial Park, Tam Nong District) specializes in producing aluminum profiles and aluminum ingots, creating jobs for 120 workers, with revenue in 2024 reaching over 470 billion VND.

Mr. Vu Van Phu - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company shared: “In 2025, the Company aims to grow by 15%, promoting exports to international markets. Aluminum is a diverse product, applied in most industrial and civil fields. However, in the process of expanding the market and promoting exports, the Aluminum industry is also facing the trend of production protection in many large markets. This requires us to proactively adapt, be flexible in business strategies, equip ourselves with knowledge of trade defense, diversify products, and limit dependence on traditional markets. In particular, the companionship and support from State management agencies in providing timely information, guidance, and policy updates so that businesses can confidently enter larger "playgrounds" of the global market plays an important role".

The trend of sustainable development is focused on by developed countries, new standards related to the environment, raw materials, supply chains, labor and consumer safety are also applied more strictly, this is both a challenge and a driving force for businesses to innovate technology and restructure production activities.

To support businesses, Phu Tho province continues to focus on developing industrial parks and clusters associated with completing synchronous infrastructure; prioritizing attracting large-scale investment projects, modern technology, high added value, energy saving and environmental friendliness. Along with that is promoting the removal of difficulties, creating favorable conditions for production and business activities, promptly implementing support policies on tax, credit, industrial promotion programs; creating conditions to rapidly increase the scale and proportion of processing and manufacturing industry in the industrial structure; speeding up the progress of site handover and putting projects into operation early, creating more production capacity and new products for the province's industry.

According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department will continue to research, advise, and propose mechanisms and policies to encourage industrial development, especially in the fields of high-tech industry, new industry, clean energy, etc. At the same time, coordinate with relevant departments and branches to guide and support enterprises in researching technological innovation, implementing trade promotion activities, and exporting to new markets; effectively implement policies to support enterprises to remove difficulties and obstacles in production and business activities of enterprises, promoting the development of industrial production.
